Chainsaw-wielding robots? Just another day at Howe & Howe Technologies

A Waterboro tech firm will be providing a helping-hand to a 16-foot tall, chainsaw-wielding battle robot.

And who doesn’t love robot battles? It’s all the pageantry of professional wrestling, mixed with the physicality of mixed martial arts and the high-octane energy of video games without putting people in harm’s way.

The Portland Press Herald visited Howe & Howe Technologies, where co-founders Geoffrey and Michael Howe are designing and building the Mk. II MegaBot’s track base that will provide speed and mobility to the human-piloted robot for its upcoming fight against a ‘bot from a Japanese firm.

“We’re going to give them a base that’s going to outperform anything they could get anywhere else,” Michael Howe told the Press Herald. “We’re not using junkyard parts. The hydraulics alone are in the tens of thousands of dollars.”
