Brunswick officials greenlight redevelopment of Skolfield House

The Brunswick Planning Board has given the final go-ahead to resident Amy McLellan to redevelop the former Skolfield House on Cumberland Street into a new 19-unit assisted-living facility.

In addition to exterior renovations, including the construction of a new entrance that matches the aesthetic qualities of surrounding buildings, The Forecaster reports that a 10-bay garage will be constructed on the site and two off-street parking spots on Union Street will be removed to provide better access for service vehicles.

The facility, which will be known as “The McLellan,” will also feature common spaces, including a pub, a theater room and a fitness center. Prices for units will range from $1,500 to $2,900 a month.

According to The Forecaster, McLellan plans to finalize the acquisition of the Cumberland Street property by the end of June, and is penciling in October as the opening day of the assisted-living facility.
