Timothy B. Hussey, York County business and community leader, dies

Timothy B. Hussey, the president and CEO of North Berwick-based Hussey Seating Co., died Monday after a battle with cancer.

Hussey, 59, died Monday morning at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston surrounded by his family.

Hussey was a member of the sixth generation of the family-owned seating company, where he served as president for more than two decades.

In a statement posted on Hussey Seating Co.’s website on Monday, Hussey was remembered not only for his contributions to the family-owned business, but for his role within the community at large, including being a longstanding supporter of the United Way of York County.

Hussey also served as the chairman of Educate Maine and as a board member of the RSU 21 School District in Kennebunk. Hussey was also a member of the Maine Development Foundation, the Maine Economic Growth Council and many other community organizations.

Hussey Seating’s chief financial officer, Gary Merrill, will assume the role of president.
