EMHS offers early retirement to curb $3M departmental shortfall

In an attempt to avoid a $3 million shortfall in its information systems department, Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems is offering 43 of the department’s 300 system-wide employees an early retirement package.

Chief Communications Officer Suzanne Spruce told the Bangor Daily News that the voluntary offer has been extended to departmental employees who are over the age of 55 and have worked for Eastern Maine Healthcare System for at least a decade.

Employees who take the package will receive one week of pay for each year of employment in addition to any time off earned and health care benefits for those who are eligible, the BDN reports.
