NAI The Dunham Group, a real estate firm in Portland, hired Andrew LeBlanc as a broker. LeBlanc was previously associate director at Marcus & Millichap Capital Corp. in Boston.

Tidestone Solutions, an accounting software and consulting firm in Portland, hired Samantha Linnell as a technical project manager. Linnell was previously a project manager at Winxnet.

MaineHealth, a health care provider in Portland, hired Joan Boomsma as chief medical officer. Boomsma is currently the chief medical officer with Atlantic Medical Group of Morristown, N.J., will join MaineHealth in September.

Dawson, Smith, Purvis and Bassett, an accounting firm in Portland, hired Andrew Slattery.

Thomas College in Waterville hired Gail Rioux as an assistant professor of criminal justice and Natalie West as assistant professor of sport management.

Down East magazine in Camden hired Mike O'Leary as senior designer and Will Grunewald as assistant editor. O'Leary, an award-winning art director, most recently was with Madavor Media while Grunewald was with Washingtonian magazine.

Bangor Savings Bank hired James Gehrke as vice president and senior commercial banking relationship manager for the commercial banking group. Gehrke was previously a business banking team leader at Machias Savings Bank.

The Central Lincoln County YMCA hired Leslie Gomes as director of membership and marketing. Most recently, Gomes was manager of copy operations for the corporate catalog, retail and e-commerce channels for L.L.Bean.

The ACLU of Maine in Portland hired Jamesa Drake as a staff attorney. Previously Drake ran her own appellate practice, Drake Law LLC.

Kennebec Pediatrics in Augusta hired pediatrician Gerard Rubin. Rubin was previously a general pediatrician at CCS Pediatrics in Lewiston, where he also served as medical director for school-based health programs.

New Beginnings, a nonprofit in Lewiston that serves runaways and homeless youth, hired Chris Bicknell as executive director. Bicknell was previously director of access and intake with the Opportunity Alliance in Portland.

Malone Commercial Brokers in Portland hired Lucille Holt-Sottery as vice president of operations and business development. Previously, Holt-Sottery was the founder of Collaborations, a business and career development company.

Yes on 1, the Campaign to Regulate Marijuana like Alcohol, hired Alysia Melnick as political director and Jordan DeCoster as field director. Melnick previously served as legal counsel and senior policy advisor for the Office of the Speaker of the Maine House of Representatives while DeCoster most recently served as field director for the No on 1 campaign to Save Maine's Bear Hunt.

The Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport hired Steve Sicinski as executive chef. Sicinski was previously with the Inn by the Sea in Cape Elizabeth.

Sunday River Resort in Newry hired Matt Erickson as snow sports school director. Erickson brings 35 years of experience in the ski industry to the role and previously served as a Professional Ski Instructor of America examiner.

Creative Office Pavilion in Portland hired Allison Chamberlain as project executive; Shannon Ireland and Jim Murray as project managers; and Nick Burkhardt as designer in its interior construction department. The firm also hired Nicole MacDonald as marketing administrator.

R.H. White Companies, a construction services and utility management firm in Auburn, hired Dan Saad as director, special projects and strategic initiatives. Saad was previously regional president at Liberty Utilities in New Hampshire.

Clark Insurance in Portland hired Nicholas Jobin as an associate account manager in the Business Insurance Services Department, Dana Hayward as an account analyst, Tammy Spaulding as an account manager in the Personal Insurance Department and Heather Clark as an account analyst in the Personal Insurance Department.

Dougherty Project Management in Bangor hired Rhonda Hamel as senior project manager. Most recently Hamel was vice president project manager/security officer for Androscoggin Bank.

Kennebunk Savings hired Thomas Zuke as senior vice president and CFO.

Chalmers Insurance Group in Gorham hired Ethan Johnson as a commercial lines account executive. Johnson was previously an account executive at Norton Insurance.

Central Maine Healthcare in Lewiston hired Jeff Brickman as president and CEO. Brickman was with Centura Health in Englewood, Colo., where he served as group president, Mountains and North Denver Operating Group, as well as president/CEO of St. Anthony Hospital.

Hobbs Funeral Home in South Portland hired Randall Hobbs as a full time licensed funeral director.

Diversified Communications, an international media company in Portland, hired Loren Lachapelle and Bethany Gilpatrick as marketing coordinators and Kat McDonald as a conference coordinator. Lachapelle was previously with CIEE in Portland, Gilpatrick with Oakhurst Dairy in Portland and McDonald with IDEXX Laboratories in Westbrook.

BerryDunn, an accounting and consulting firm in Portland, hired Mike Jurnak as practice leader of the firm's commercial business practice group.

Cheverus High School in Portland hired Randolph Shaw as vice president of institutional advancement. Shaw was previously the associate vice president for college advancement at Bates College in Lewiston.

Promotions

University of Maine at August promoted Mark Tardif to executive director of strategic marketing and public affairs for both the university and University College, a unit of the University of Maine at Augusta with eight centers in communities across Maine. Most recently Tardif served as director of marketing and communications for University College.

The University of New England in Biddeford promoted Jane Carreiro to dean of the UNE College of Osteopathic Medicine. Carreiro had been serving as director of graduate and continuing medical education and as professor and chair of the Department of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine at university.

Maine State Credit Union in Augusta promoted Christina Marquis to card services representative. Marquis was previously a teller at the main office in Augusta.

Nancy Marshall Communications in Augusta promoted Jessica Donahue to account supervisor.

Verrill Dana, a law firm in Portland, promoted Misti Munster to counsel in its Portland office. Munster, who joined the firm as an associate in 2009, is a member of the firm's Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Group.

MMG Insurance Co. in Presque Isle promoted John Herweh to vice president and director of human resources.

PeoplesChoice Credit Union promoted Daniel Dallaire to mortgage administration manager in Saco. Dallaire was previously a mortgage loan originator servicing the Sanford/Wells area.

Appointments

The American Heart Association in Maine added Catherine Desrochers, Linda Whitten, Nicole Hardy and Sarah Porter to its board of directors. Desrochers is an account executive with Norton Financial Services, Whitten is manager of human resources at AAA Northern New England, Hardy is general manager of Pottery Barn and Porter is project director with the University of New England Coastal Healthy Communities Coalition.

The Center for Grieving Children, a nonprofit in Portland that provides support for grieving children, adults and their families, added Robert Baldacci of Baldacci Consulting Group, William Kany of Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution and Gerard Salvo of TideSmart Global to its board of directors.

The University of Maine Alumni Association elected Matthew Ciampa chair and Justin Labonte treasurer of its board of directors. Ciampa is a business analyst at Pingup, a Boston-based startup while Labonte will be joining Emerson Electric Co., a Fortune 500 company based in suburban St. Louis, in the fall. In addition, William Beaudoin, Danielle Burke Ahern, Gustavo Burkett, John Ferland, Steven Hewins, Elizabeth Jarrell, John Lalumiere and Julia Munsey were elected as board members.

Eastern Maine Development Corp. in Bangor added Christopher Winstead and Lori Shields to its board of directors. Winstead is executive director for the Piscataquis County Economic Development Council while Shields is a relationship manager in the commercial department of TD Bank.

Paul Peck, an attorney at Drummond & Drummond and real estate developer with LWS Development LLC, was named president of the Maine Real Estate & Development Association. The association also announced its slate of officers including: Bruce Jones, Creative Office Pavilion, and Brian Curley, PDT Architects, vice presidents; William Shanahan, Northern New England Housing Investment Fund, treasurer; and Shelly Clark, Maine Real Estate & Development Association, secretary. William Schad, Southern Maine commercial regional vice president at TD Bank, was also elected to its board.

Tedford Housing, a nonprofit in Brunswick working to find solutions to end homelessness, elected John Carson, president; Andree Appel, vice president; Nonny Soifer, secretary; Sarah Piper, treasurer; and Claudia Staberg, an at large representative to its board of directors. Carson is pastor of the Elijah Kellog Church; Appel, clinical director of the Oasis Health Network; Soifer, a lawyer in private practice; Piper, commercial lender at Bath Savings Institution; and Staberg, consultant and college advisor. In addition, Judy Montgomery, associate librarian of the Bowdoin College Library, returned to the board of directors after a one-year hiatus.

Eaton Peabody, a Bangor-based law firm with five offices statewide, announced that nine of its attorneys and five of its practice areas were included in the 2016 edition of Chambers USA for the state of Maine. The firm's practice areas highly ranked were corporate M&A, environment, labor and employment, litigation (general commercial and real estate).

University of Maine at Farmington President Kathryn Foster was named as one of “50 Mainers Charting the State's Future” by Maine magazine.

Atlantic Federal Credit Union in Brunswick was named as one of the “Healthiest Credit Unions” in the country, by Deposit Accounts, a bank account comparison website. Green Acres Kennel Shop in Bangor was voted the Bangor Region's Best Kennel for the 15th consecutive year in a survey conducted by Market Surveys of America and the GKM Independent Survey Co.

The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education announced that Maine Medical Center in Portland was one of eight institutions nationally selected to participate as Pathway Innovators in Pursuing Excellence in Clinical Learning Environments. The four-year initiative is aimed at motivating, supporting and spreading innovation to transform clinical learning environments, where residents and fellows pursue training in their specialties or subspecialties.

Local entrepreneurs Neil Lamey and Jared Lamey of SERVPRO of Portland were recognized with the Chairmen's Platinum award for outstanding revenue performance during the 47th Annual SERVPRO Convention.

Franklin Memorial Hospital employee Kristen Grondin was recognized for being the Maine Association of Healthcare Administrative Professional's allied health professional of the year for helping generate new interest and membership in the association, streamlining conference registrations and sharing its professional passion.

Klixel8, a South Portland provider of Shoppable Media solutions, announced that it was identified as a vendor in the Gartner Hype Cycle for Digital Commerce 2016 report.

Joel King, professor of psychology at the University of Maine at Farmington, was recognized by the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges with the Charles Dunn COPLAC Award for his “commitment to student success that goes above and beyond the classroom and office, and his extraordinary attention to students as individuals who sometimes face unique challenges.”

The city of Bangor announced that it is the 100th AARP designated Age-Friendly Community in the United States. The designation recognizes the city's commitment to improve the quality of life of its residents, regardless of age.
