Could a new waterfront public park be coming to Portland?

Portland’s economic development committee is conducting a study and has put out the call for proposals to convert a waterfront parking lot between Sail Maine and the Ocean Gateway into a new park.

WCSH-TV 6 reported that among the improvements being considered by officials for the space, known as the Amethyst Lot, is a short period dock for people to anchor boats at.

“The reason why people come to Portland is because of what you see behind me. Anything to keep that sort of idea, anything to keep it going or keep it happening you can do, just so long as you remember it's about the people who come to visit Portland and about the people that live here,” Portland resident Seon Brown told WCSH.
