#beerfriday Maine gets some love in WSJ beer story

Josh Christie, a Portland beer writer and co-owner of the planned Print: A Bookstore, is cited in a Wall Street Journal story about the growth of craft beer.

Freeport’s Maine Beer Co.was cited among “America’s best regional beers,” the New England region, for its Maine Beer Lunch, an India pale ale.

Bissell Brothers of Portland was also mentioned for forging the New England IPA-style of beer.

“[New England], after all, the land of Walden, Woodstock and wicked-local slang,” the Journal story, written by William Bostwick, says.

“I think a strong part of New England [identity] is wanting to forge your own path,” Christie told the Journal. “We’re not going to keep brewing English or West Coast IPAs. We’re going to do our own thing.”
