Dispute over Pingree inn to be heard by Maine’s highest court
The Maine State Supreme Judicial Court will hear arguments on a battle over expansion of Nebo Lodge on North Haven.
The Bangor Daily News reported that the inn, which is owned by U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree, D-1st District, has been battling with a neighbor, Steven Wolfram, over construction of a two-story building on the inn’s property. The building was designed to house storage, office and residential space, the BDN reported.
Nebo Lodge had received town approval, but Wolfram claimed the inn had grown since he bought a neighboring property in 2009 and now had more noise and traffic, the BDN reported.
Wolfram lost a Superior Court case last year, but appealed the decision. Oral arguments in the case are scheduled to be heard Feb. 8 by the Supreme Judicial Court.
Nebo Lodge has nine guest rooms and a restaurant and bar. Rates range from $135 to $335 a night.
