Six-story hotel proposed for Portland

Another hotel is in the works for the Old Port neighborhood of Portland.

The Portland Press Herald reported that Richard Mielbye of Miel’s Development Group in West Palm Beach, Fla., has filed an application with the city to build a six-story, 128-room hotel at 203 Fore St. in Portland, on an existing parking lot and next to the downtown Hampton Inn. The proposed hotel will have a parking garage and outdoor parking for 120 vehicles, a common area, restaurant and retail space on the ground level and a rooftop bar.

Earlier this year, West Elm Hotels announced its plans for a 150-room boutique hotel at 58 Fore St., at the former Portland Co. complex. That hotel is expected to open in 2020. It would be developed by Portland Foreside Development Co. LLC, an affiliate of CPB2 LLC, and operated by DDK, West Elm Hotel's exclusive hotel development-and-management partner.

The Press Herald reported in August that Reger Dasco Properties, responsible for redeveloping the former Rufus Deering Lumber Co. yard on Commercial Street in Portland, also put in an application to build a 128-room hotel and conference center.

Yet another hotel, the 150-room AC by Marriott, is under construction at the corner of Hancock and Thames streets.
