Walsh Engineering merges with Pinkham & Greer Civil Engineers

Walsh Engineering Associates Inc. and Pinkham & Greer Civil Engineers announced their merger, which took effect on Jan. 1. The combined company and employees will continue under the Walsh Engineering Associates name and is located in Westbrook.

“Given the present rapid pace of real estate development, we are truly excited about our joint, expanded capabilities in civil engineering in Maine and elsewhere in New England,” William R. Walsh III said in a news release.

Thomas S. Greer added that in joining forces both firms believe the merged company “will offer enhanced collaboration and increased value in services for our customers” and “prove to be an agile workforce, able to respond to the diverse needs of a broader clientele.”

Both principals in the merger said “personalized service and proactive relationships with their clientele will continue to be a top priority,” noting that they intend to meet personally with each client.

All 13 employees from both companies will be retained. Both companies employed a mix of project managers, civil engineers, environmental engineers, designers and technicians.

About the companies

The two companies have similar professional portfolios, completing permitting, site design, and construction administration for site development projects. The combined company will continue serving architectural firms, commercial developers, private homeowners and industrial clients with their needs in site design, environmental permitting and project management on the municipal, state and federal levels.

Founded in 2009, Walsh Engineering Associates provides civil engineering capabilities and experience across a broad range of services.

Its portfolio of New England and southern Maine civil engineering projects includes a contract zoning, permitting and site design and construction oversight of a 54,000-square-foot U-Haul self-storage facility on Route 1 in Saco. It designed the Riverwalk Subdivision in Wells and the recently completed O.M. Whipple Columbarium project in the Lowell, Mass., Cemetery. Walsh has experience in the permitting and design of shoreline stabilization projects and sand dune permitting in Maine coastal communities. It also offers specialized services in sustainable projects as a LEED-accredited firm.

Founded in 1985, Pinkham & Greer Civil Engineers has specialized in construction inspection, civil engineering design, and project management.

The company’s notable recent projects, include the recently opened Luminato 23-unit luxury condominium building on Franklin Street in Portland and the Clark Insurance renovation on the former Elks Club property on outer Congress Street, also in Portland.

Pinkham & Greer’s civil engineering portfolio includes subdivision and land planning, storm water management, site designs for commercial and industrial clients, and utility sewer and water design.

Pinkham & Greer Consulting Engineers, a structural engineering firm is a separate business entity and is not included in the merger.
