Angus King to run for U.S. Senate

Former Independent Gov. Angus King announced last night that he will run for the U.S. Senate seat that will be vacated by U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe.

At the end of a speech he gave at Bowdoin College in Brunswick on the Cuban missile crisis, King confirmed he will run for the Senate, according to a press release. During the announcement, he said “partisan politics has paralyzed the federal government and it is holding the whole country hostage,” adding he can “speak for the middle.” He cited job creation as the most important issue facing the nation, and also highlighted reducing national debt and improving access to education and health care.
