Bangor hospital plans $5.25M office expansion

Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor plans to add a 30,000-square-foot office building to its Bangor campus to house a growing staff of physicians and nurses.

The Bangor Daily News reported the hospital is now working out a deal to buy a 2.4-acre, city-owned parcel in the Maine Business Enterprise Park. The company expects the entire project will cost $5.25 million.

Joel Farley, a facilities administrator at EMMC, told the paper he expects construction to begin as early as this year and would be complete by late 2014 or early 2015, depending on the permitting process.

He said the hospital has not yet determined how many providers and which services might be housed in the new building. The city council is slated to consider the sale at a meeting tonight.
