Call center suspends operations

Technical problems have forced a Millinocket call center to temporarily close without pay for its 22 workers.

G&G Marketing is closing its facility for two weeks to deal with problems implementing a new dialer system the company needs to use for a Florida client, the Bangor Daily News reported. Employees, who co-owner Mel Gould III said have already gone unpaid for two weeks, will not be paid during the two weeks the company expects it will be closed to address the system change, the paper reported. Gould told the paper management has gone unpaid for seven or eight weeks.

G&G Marketing in June received a $20,000 gap-financing loan from the town, which it has paid off monthly through August. Information on whether it paid in September was unavailable to the paper.
