Cianbro wins additional Kittery shipyard contract

Pittsfield-based Cianbro Corp., the state’s largest construction company, has won an additional $17 million federal contract at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery.

According to an Associated Press report published by the Bangor Daily News, Cianbro will repair or modernize wharf structures of the crane rail system along the waterfront, and provide corrosion protection of the wharf.

Last December, U.S. Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Angus King, I-Maine, announced that the U.S. Navy awarded Cianbro an initial $27 million contract for the work at the shipyard.

This past June, Cianbro and Northland Associates Inc. of Liverpool, N.Y., were awarded a $215 million contract to modernize and expand facilities at the U.S. Land Port of Entry in Alexandria Bay, N.Y.
