Construction repair firm expands to shuttered plant

The Pittsburgh-based Anderson Equipment, which operates two locations in Maine, plans to open a third at a former recycling facility in Gorham. The plant was closed in 2011 after a court found the recycling company had failed to properly handle unsafe piles of waste.

The American Journal reported that Anderson Equipment, which sells and services construction and mining equipment, will look to build an addition on the building on 8.3 acres at 18 Gorham Industrial Parkway and hire 18 new employees.

The company plans to renovate an existing building on the property and add a 9,300-square-foot service garage with seven bays for its equipment service department, the Journal reported.

Anderson Equipment has 18 locations in the Northeast, including operations in Cumberland and Bangor.
