Conversion to begin on former South Portland armory

A former Maine Army National Guard Armory in South Portland will start being transitioned into an Irving gas station and convenience store early next week.

David Latulippe, vice president of Priority Real Estate Group, told The Forecaster that the repurposing of the World War II-era building at 682 Broadway should be completed by this Thanksgiving.

In addition to housing 10 gas pumps and office space on the second floor, the former-armory-turned-fill-station will be serving coffee by the Portland-based Coffee by Design, have two electric-vehicle charging stations and 60 parking spaces.
