Data breach hits Iberdrola's U.S. job candidates

Iberdrola USA, the parent company of Central Maine Power Co., announced today that its online job recruitment site was breached, potentially exposing personal information of about 5,100 job applicants or candidates for positions at its U.S. affiliates.

The company said today that it is offering one year of free credit monitoring to help any of those potentially affected by the breach, which includes internal and external job candidates at Iberdrola USA and its affiliate CMP, New York State Electric and Gas and Rochester Gas and Electric.

The 5,100 people in the database include those who, since Jan. 2007, completed an online application prior to an interview or those who were ultimately offered a position at Iberdrola USA or its affiliates.

The company reported in a press release that its recruitment site has since been secured. The company has also notified the FBI of the breach and an investigation is ongoing.
