Frontier Airlines, a low-cost carrier that already flies out of Portland International Jetport, will soon add a seasonal service connecting the city and Cincinnati.
Flights will begin May 16 between the Jetport and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, Frontier announced yesterday. The service will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
“We are pleased to see Frontier continue to invest in the Portland market,” said Paul Bradbury, airport director. “Cincinnati is a great market and we look forward to welcoming midwest visitors to Maine this summer. It is a testament to the strength of the Portland market that Frontier has announced the resumption of Philadelphia and new service to Cincinnati within one week.”
Last week, Frontier Airlines announced the return of Philadelphia service, which also will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays starting May 16.
Zachary Sundquist, assistant airport director, told Mainebiz that tickets are currently available for sale through Aug. 11.
Frontier's parent company, Denver-based Frontier Group Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: ULCC), has a market capitalization of $1.65 billion.
The airline, which was founded in 2013, operates flights to over 100 destinations throughout the United States and 31 international destinations and has around 7,000 employees.
