New hires

RE/MAX Shoreline in Portland hired Jocelyn Grover as an agent.

BerryDunn, an accounting and consulting firm in Portland, announced more than two dozen new hires. In its administrative group Colleen Oakley was hired as marketing director; Emily Pelletier and Theresa Seekamp, administrative assistants; Jennifer Price, senior business development specialist; and Kerri Rowland, business development specialist. In its audit and accounting group Courtney Lindsay, Sam Nisbett and Steffany Paradis were hired as staff auditors; and Leah Pillsbury and Bradlee Roy, staff accountants. In the business valuation group Casey Karlsen was hired as senior valuation analyst. In the consulting group Jim Downie, Robert Haughton, Marnie Hudson, Erin Provazek, Frank Qin, Jonathan Roderick, Naomi Snodgrass and Mitch Weinzetl were hired as senior consultants; Jodi Hill, senior manager; and Gina Occhipinti, Sarah Stacki and Melinda Trail, consultants. In the tax group Chandra Cooper, Kyle McVey, Mayson Picard and Emily Saunders were hired as tax specialists.

SMRT Architects and Engineers in Portland hired Robert Corson as a senior health care architect. Corson has 25 years of design and project experience and most recently served as in-house principal planner and lead architect at Exeter Health Resources, Exeter, N.H.-based parent of Exeter Hospital and its affiliates.

PortMA, a marketing analytics and research company in Portland, hired Katie Clark as COO and research director. Clark most recently led the research team at Diversified Communications.

Midcoast Federal Credit Union in Freeport announced several new hires including Laurie Grinnan as retail services supervisor and assistant branch manager in Bath; Christopher Sadler, compliance and risk officer in Freeport; Melissa Lowell, financial analyst in Freeport; and financial services representatives Rachel Siford in Brunswick, Ashlea Dorrinton in Bath and Desiree Foley in Thomaston.

Acadia Benefits, an employee benefits firm in Portland, hired Catherine Desrochers as a large-group account manager. Desrochers is a Licensed Health and Life Insurance Producer in the state of Maine with 15 years of experience in the employee benefits field.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine hired Nicole Avery as executive director. Avery most recently was executive director of the Cancer Community Center.

Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor hired Bernard Richardson as head chaplain and director, chaplain services. In his most recent position, Richardson served as senior chaplain and certified physician executive-educator at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore.

Camden National Wealth Management hired Stephen Olore as senior vice president, director of technical research and analysis and Patrick White-Thomson as vice president, portfolio manager. Most recently, Olore served as senior portfolio manager at People's United Bank while White-Thomson was senior portfolio manager and investment strategist at Holly Street Wealth Management.

The AC Hotel Portland Downtown/Waterfront announced several new hires: Bill Hagen as assistant general manager; Steven Fennell, director of engineering; Dena Dix, seniors sales manager; Brittany Wright, sales coordinator; Seamus Perry, front office manager; Ryan Holmes, assistant operations manager; and Peter Bennoch, housekeeping manager.

Stevens & Day LLP, a law firm in Augusta, hired Laura Pioch as an associate. She was previously a helpline attorney with Legal Services for the Elderly in Augusta.

Katahdin Trust in Houlton hired Sarah Bowie as vice president, business development officer for its greater Portland market area. Bowie most recently served as assistant vice president, merchant card sales officer for Bangor Savings Bank in Portland.

Murray Plumb & Murray, a law firm in Portland, hired Ali Tozier as an employment law attorney. Prior to joining the firm, Tozier practiced employment law at Littler Mendelson, a boutique labor and employment law firm.

Camden National Bank hired Heather Durrell Robinson as senior vice president, chief human resources officer. Robinson was with EVO Payments, International where she served as senior vice president of human resources for the United States and Canada.

Insurance Trust in Westbrook hired Sarah Nash as property and casualty account manager.

Chewonki, a school, camp and environmental education organization in Wiscasset, hired Charlie Fear as director of Camp Chewonki for Boys. Fear was previously a science teacher at Bath Middle School.

Fluid Imaging Technologies, a biotechnology company in Scarborough, hired Stephen Barton as a technical customer support associate. Previously, Barton was at Dartmouth College.

Fontaine Family – The Real Estate Leader in Auburn hired Paul Rondeau as a team member in Scarborough. Rondeau previously worked for the city of Biddeford as a patrol officer and a school resource officer.

Promotions

Midcoast Federal Credit Union in Freeport promoted Ashley Poole to retail services supervisor in Thomaston. Poole was previously a financial services representative.

The city of Bangor promoted Eric Willett to director of public works. Willett previously served as the city's fleet maintenance supervisor.

Axiom Technologies in Machias promoted Mark Ouellette to president and CEO. Ouellette, who previously served as president, joined the company in 2015 with a goal of expanding services across the state of Maine and beyond.

Camden National Bank promoted Aline Taylor to vice president, retail sales and service delivery manager; Jody Landrith to vice president, retail sales and service coach; and Mark O'Donal to assistant vice president, banking center manager at the Camden main office.

Waterville Creates, an arts and cultural organization in Waterville, promoted Nate Towne to marketing director. Towne was previously marketing manager.

University Credit Union in Orono promoted Brooke York to branch manager in Farmington. York was previously assistant branch manager.

Chewonki, a school, camp and environmental education organization in Wiscasset, promoted Nancy Kennedy to vice president for Camp Chewonki and Greg Shute to senior vice president.

Appointments

St. Andre Home, a private, non-profit Catholic organization in Biddeford designed to meet the needs of Maine's women and children, added Joanne Bean, Yvonne Borelli-Chace, Jane Campbell, Felicite Niyongere and Michael Pease to its board of directors. Bean is executive director of the Diocesan Bureau of Housing's Deering Pavilion in Portland, Borelli-Chace is director of the missions office, Catholic Relief Services and the victim assistance coordinator for the Diocese of Portland, Campbell is retired, Niyongere most recently served as national coordinator of Catholic Action of Burundi and Pease is executive director, Diocesan Bureau of Housing.

Milestone Recovery in Portland added Max Bangs to its board of directors. Bangs is vice president and branch manager at Bangor Savings Bank in Portland. The organization also elected Mike Miles as president and re-elected Tom Ranello as vice president, Tony DiSotto as treasurer and John Branson as secretary. Miles is with Your Human Resource, Ranello with REMAX Shoreline, DiSotto with KeyBank and John Branson with Branson Law Office PA.

The Abbe Museum in Bar Harbor added Kristen Barnett, Corey Hinton and Elissa Laplant to its board of trustees. Barnett is a professor of anthropology/archaeology at Bates College in Lewiston, Hinton is a lawyer who specializes in the representation of Tribal Nations and Tribally-owned entities across the U.S. and Laplant is a key account manager at the Jackson Laboratory.

Achievements

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Maine in South Portland said it received a rating of 4.5 out of 5 in the National Committee for Quality Assurance Private Health Insurance Plan Ratings 2017-18, making it a top-ranked plan in the state.

WHSN 89.3 FM, Husson University's alternative rock station, received four awards from the Maine Association of Broadcasters at its annual News & Creative Awards event. Awards included “Best Locally Produced Program,” second place for “Edgar Allan Poe's Tales of Mystery & Imagination 2017;” “Best Feature,” third place for “Voices of Wellness – Shauni;” “Self Promotion,” third place for “Dr. Science - WHSN Mobile App;” and “Sports Play By Play,” third place for “Women's Basketball: Husson University Eagles vs Castleton State.”

Systems Engineering, an IT strategy and managed services provider in Portland, said it became a Veeam Gold Pro Partner. Veeam is a category leader in backup and recovery software, an essential capability for businesses that want to defend their networks from data loss disasters and from the grips of a ransomware cybercriminal.

The State Workforce Board's Older Worker Committee announced its 2018's best employers for workers over the age of 50 in Maine. “Silver Collar Employer Award” winners were: Community Living Association in Houlton; Couleur Collection LLC, Falmouth; Loving Touch In-Home Care, Bangor; and Nonantum Resort, Kennebunkport.

Hope Acts, a Portland nonprofit organization that offers housing for asylum seekers and provides services to immigrants, named Julia Trujillo its “Community Builder” award winner and Bethany Smart as its “Heart of our Home” award winner. Trujillo is the city of Portland's director of economic opportunity while Smart is a community volunteer.

Joel Moser, a shareholder at Bernstein Shur, a law firm in Portland, lectured at the 84th International Association of Assessing Officers Annual Conference in Minneapolis. Moser's presentation focused on how to prepare, defend and manage large appeals of property tax assessments.

Diversified Communications, an international media company in Portland, named Jennifer Jipson, financial analyst, its “7Cs Chairperson Award” winner at its Bi-Annual Town Meeting.
