New hires

Maine State Employees Association, Local 1989 of the Service Employees International Union, hired Eric Noyes as executive director. Noyes most recently served as deputy division director for the public division of the Service Employees International Union.

Avesta Housing, a nonprofit affordable housing developer and property manager in Portland, hired Alyssa Dean-Littlefield as director of asset management and Doug Gardner as vice president of resident services overseeing the property management and senior/assisted living divisions. Dean-Littlefield most recently served as a senior asset manager at Northern New England Housing Investment Fund while Gardner was vice president of operations for North Country Associates.

Drummond Woodsum Strategic Consulting in Portland hired Mark Gallagher as a government relations and campaign consultant. Previously, Gallagher was the state director for U.S. Sen. Edward J. Markey.

The Maine Community Foundation in Ellsworth hired Gloria Aponte Clarke as program officer. Clarke previously managed and directed the Maine State Innovation Model to improve health care for Maine people.

Mercy Hospital in Portland hired Nicolas Arredondo as a board-certified neurosurgeon at Maine Spine Surgery. Most recently, Arredondo practiced as a general neurological surgeon at the Neurologic Institute of Savannah & Center for Spine in Savannah, Ga.

The U.S. Small Business Administration hired Wendell Davis as regional administrator for SBA Region I, which covers Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. Davis was managing partner with DCB Law Group LLC.

OceanView at Falmouth, an assisted living and retirement community in Falmouth, hired Tamera Vogel as assisted living and memory care sales consultant. Vogel was a financial advisor with Northwestern Mutual and Prudential.

The Maine Center for Entrepreneurs in Portland hired Sue Hanson as program manager for its Food Accelerator Program. Hanson was previously continuous improvement director at AdvancePierre.

Otelco, a wireline telecommunications services company in New Gloucester, hired Scott Littlefield as a network engineering manager and Danielle Hopper as a senior voice and data engineer. Littlefield was with Windstream in South Carolina while Hopper most recently as an engineering manager at Spectrum.

Gelato Fiasco in Brunswick hired Jonathan Davis as supply chain administrator and Jonathan Dyer as a quality assurance and quality control supervisor. Davis was previously town administrator for the town of West Bath while Dyer was a scientist and manager at The Alchemist Inc.

Gawron Turgeon Architects PC in Scarborough hired Sashie Misner as a landscape architect.

Eaton Peabody, a law firm in Bangor, hired Shawn Doil as senior counsel, Janna Gau as of counsel and Carrie LeDuc as a business consultant. Doil focuses on bankruptcy and creditor rights, Gau represents both private and public sector clients in the defense and prosecution of claims relating to construction, commercial and banking, employment, equine and agriculture and professional liability and insurance related litigation and LeDuc provides business management, process and project management services and grant writing and reporting services to the firm.

Scott Simons Architects in Portland hired Paul Lewandowski as principal. Lewandowski was previously a design principal at Lavallee Brensinger.

Allen Insurance and Financial in Camden hired Jaime Hannan-McMurrin as a processor in its business insurance division.

University Credit Union in Orono hired Jenn Deschene as campus branch manager at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Deschene was previously with The County Federal Credit Union.

The Iris Network, a nonprofit in Portland serving the blind and visually impaired, hired David Barnwell as president/executive director. Barnwell was president and vice president of business affairs at A Brighter Path Foundation at Industries for the Blind in North Carolina.

Skelton, Taintor & Abbott, a law firm in Auburn, hired Avery Dandreta as an associate attorney. Dandreta practices real estate law and is licensed in Maine and Massachusetts.

Maine Medical Partners in Portland announced several new hires. Benjamin Felix joined Maine Medical Partners – Outpatient Clinics, where he will be providing internal medicine care; Jillian Dur was hired as a geriatrician with Westbrook Primary Care; Leslie Bradford, who is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology with a subspecialty in gynecologic oncology, joined Maine Medical Partners – Women’s Health; Jonathan Watling joined Maine Medical Partners – Orthopedics & Sports Medicine as an orthopedic surgeon; and Ronald Zviti joined Maine Medical Partners – Pediatric Specialty Care, Division of Nephrology.

The Central Maine & Québec Railway in Bangor hired Wesley Logan as general manager operations. Logan was most recently with Goderich-Exeter Railway and the Southern Ontario Railway.

Gov. Paul R. LePage hired Michael Beardsley as senior policy advisor in the area of natural resources policy. Beardsley was previously national director of marketing and sales for Santee Risk Managers, which provides insurance products to logging contractors nationwide.

The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce hired Trisha Mosher as executive director.

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust hired Marion Colombo as executive vice president of retail delivery. Colombo most recently served as market president - retail, Greater Boston and Rhode Island market for TD Bank.

Promotions

CBRE|The Boulos Co., a real estate firm in Portland, promoted Samantha Marinko to associate.

Avesta Housing, a nonprofit affordable housing developer and property manager in Portland, promoted Kim Farrar to vice president of strategic initiatives, Rebecca Hatfield to director of real estate development, Travis Heynen to director of housing services and Hollie Sprague to director of property operations. Farrar was previously vice president of resident services, Hatfield was assets and acquisitions officer and Heynen and Sprague were regional property managers.

People’s United Bank in Portland promoted Andrew Cook to senior vice president, business banking team leader in Southern Maine. Cook was previously a business banker.

The city of Portland promoted Ryan Francis to administrator of the Barron Center, the city’s skilled rehabilitation/nursing and long-term care facility. Francis was previously director of life enrichment and volunteer coordinator at the center.

Landry/French Construction Co. in Scarborough promoted Nick Gaddar to project manager. Gaddar was previously an assistant project manager.

The Central Maine & Québec Railway in Bangor promoted Chad Mowery to vice president operations. Mowery was general manager.

SMRT Architects and Engineers in Portland promoted Nikhil Bodhankar, Kristen Damuth, Jonathan Kasper, Nicole Rogers, Andrew Tyner and Graham Vickers to associate principals.

ORPC Inc., a developer of marine renewable energy solutions based in Portland, promoted Cian Marnagh to vice president of engineering and program management, Nathan Johnson to vice president of development, Ryan Tyler to senior project engineer and Sean Anderton to director of information technology and field services.

Geiger, a promotional products distributor in Lewiston, promoted Ronald Seguin to accounts receivable specialist in Total Care. Seguin was an order verifier.

First National Bank in Damariscotta promoted Brenda Fernald to assistant vice president, business development officer, Taylor Hatch to assistant vice president, branch operations and phone center manager and Emily Cantillo to compliance manager. The bank also announced that First Advisors, the investment management division of the company, promoted Peter Nicholson to vice president, senior portfolio manager and Chelsea Spalding to assistant portfolio manager.

Appointments

Day One, an agency in South Portland dedicated to addressing substance use and mental health needs among children and young adults, added Andrea Lai, director of ambulatory care pharmacy services at Maine Medical Center, to its board of directors.

Tony McKim, president and CEO of First National Bank in Damariscotta, joined the board of the United Farmer Veterans of Maine as a community director.

Hospice of Southern Maine in South Portland elected new board members and corporation members at its annual meeting. Elected to the board of directors for an initial term and to the corporation were Theodora Kalikow, president emerita of the University of Maine, Farmington; and Laura Madigan McCown, clinical ethicist at Maine Medical Center. Elected to serve a second term were Barry Hobbins and Gayle Brazeau, professor of pharmaceutical sciences in the College of Pharmacy at the University of New England; and serving an additional term, Annette Gosnell.

Gregory Clayton was inducted into the Maine Chapter of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, an honor only nine lawyers have received state-wide. Clayton is a shareholder at Primmer Piper Eggleston & Cramer PC, a law firm in Camden.

The Good Food Council of Lewiston-Auburn added Shelley Kruszewski, Androscoggin Land Trust, Auburn; Khadija Hussein, agriculturalist and college student, Lewiston; RitaMae Morin, agriculturalist and college student, Auburn; Mark Hews, M E Hews and Co. LLC, Poland; and Muhidin Libah, Somali-Bantu Community Association, Lewiston as new members.

Achievements

The city of Auburn, Maine Public Services Department was awarded the “American Public Works Association Accreditation” designation recognizing public works agencies that go beyond the requirements of the nationally established management practices in the public works industry.

Canterbury Royale Gourmet Dining Room in Fort Fairfield received a 2017 Yankee Magazine “Editor’s Choice Award for Best Fine Dining in Maine.”

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid awarded Mercy Hospital in Portland a quality rating of five stars. The ratings are based on 60 quality measures spanning everything from patient experience to the value and outcomes of services provided.

Sarah Belliveau, a principal at BerryDunn in Portland, was named as a “2017 Maine Society of CPAs Women to Watch” award recipient. Belliveau oversees the firm’s general audit staff and leads its not-for-profit practice area.

Pine Tree Society, an organization in Bath serving Maine children and adults with disabilities, said that Michelle Girard-Lynds and Sherri Go were awarded national certification by the Association of Certified Rehabilitation Educators, a national membership organization for trainers and educators who work in the field of employment for people with disabilities. Girard-Lynds and Go are both employment specialists who work with job seekers in the organization’s career development department.

Hospice of Southern Maine in South Portland honored Theresa Desfosses with its “Katherine Pope Leadership Award.” Desfosses, owner of State Manufactured Homes in Scarborough, is a member of the organizations’ board of directors.

G&E Roofing Co. in Augusta received a “2017 Perfection Award” from Carlisle SynTec Systems, a manufacturer of single-ply roofing materials.
