New hires

Landry/French Construction Co. in Scarborough hired Kevin Pombriant as chief estimator. Pombriant is a 20-year industry veteran with preconstruction and estimating experience on a broad range of construction projects.

Bernstein Shur, a law firm in Portland, hired Ryan Almy as an associate. Almy joined the firm's real estate practice group.

Becker Structural Engineers in Portland hired Elizabeth Brownell as a senior engineer. Brownell has 13 years of engineering experience and has held positions in both the public and private sectors.

Gawron Turgeon Architects PC in Scarborough hired Shelly Tallack Caporossi as marketing director.

BerryDunn, an accounting and consulting firm in Portland, hired Colleen Oakley as director of marketing. Oakley was most recently part of the senior leadership team at Creative Imaging Group.

The Foundation for Maine's Community Colleges in South Portland hired Audrey Thomson as president, effective Sept. 4. Thomson, who has 15 years of experience in higher education, nonprofit and health care fundraising, most recently served as executive director of philanthropy with St. Mary's and the Covenant Health Foundation in Lewiston.

MaineHealth announced several new hires. Its Accountable Care Organization hired Chelsea Donahue as a customer service representative for the Behavioral HealthCare Program and Paul Ridlon as a business analyst. From the First Tooth hired Cori Holt as a program manager. Access to Care hired Marie Villanucci as an insurance coverage case manager, Kimberly Provencher as a coverage team case manager and Kira Spears as a MedAccess screening specialist. Audit and compliance services hired Sean Costigan as senior internal auditor. Its Center for Health Improvement hired Jennifer Marcoux as a health educator.

Franklin Health Primary Care in Farmington announced Deborah Hamilton joined its practice. Hamilton is board certified in family practice and most recently provided adult and pediatric care at Spruce Mountain Medical Associates in Livermore Falls.

Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington hired Tanya Lever as a nurse practitioner at Franklin Health Pediatrics. Lever previously provided pediatric primary care at Dover Pediatrics in Dover, N.H.

Creative Office Pavilion in Portland hired Kylie Dionne as accounting administrator and Tara Cimini as interior designer.

Berman & Simmons, a law firm in Lewiston, hired Christopher Boots to represent clients in personal injury cases. Boots most recently worked as a litigation associate with Ropes and Gray LLP in its Boston and San Francisco offices.

Dream Local Digital, a digital marketing agency in Rockland, hired Deanna Lewis as a sales leader. Lewis previously worked as the R&D growth and development manager for the Local Media Association.

Stroudwater Associates, a health care consulting firm in Portland, hired Daniel Given as a consultant. Given previously served as a CFO in the health care system. The firm also added Ron Hughes as a senior advisor in an exclusive agreement to offer performance improvement consulting services in the context of Short Interval Time Management. Hughes was a senior consultant with the Huron Consulting Group and MedAssets' workforce solutions division.

Fluid Imaging Technologies Inc., a laboratory instrumentation manufacturer in Scarborough, hired Mary Hayes as shipper/receiver and Gail Durgin as QA software analyst with the software team. Hayes was previously employed at GVS Filter Technology while Durgin was with Anthem.

Norway Savings Bank hired Christine Munroe as market manager of its two Brunswick branches.

Speak About It, a nonprofit in Portland, hired Olivia Harris as executive director. Harris, who is based out of Philadelphia, Pa., is an applied theater artist and educator who mostly recently served as the organizational learning specialist at Harlem Children's Zone and an Albert Greenfield Fellow at the Philadelphia Theatre Co.

Tedford Housing, a nonprofit agency in Brunswick whose mission is to find lasting solutions to the challenges of homelessness, hired Andrea Meadows as accounting assistant.

Corrie Anderson joined All About Women, a specialty practice of Mercy Hospital in Portland. Anderson was with Rochester Gynecologic and Obstetric Associates in Rochester, N.Y.

The Portland Symphony Orchestra named Eckart Preu music director. Preu was previously music director of the Spokane Symphony in Washington state.

Community Health Options in Lewiston hired Joanne Lauterbach as controller. Lauterbach, who has 21 years of finance and accounting experience, was most recently with Anthem Inc.

Spurwink Services, a Portland-based nonprofit offering a broad range of mental health, education and residential services, hired Amanda Brownell as a pediatrician with its child abuse program team.

Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor hired Sheri Norwood as a women's health nurse practitioner at EMMC Gynecology Associates.

Promotions

Cheney Insurance in Damariscotta promoted Suzanne Strachan to executive vice president. Strachan was previously manager of the agency's personal insurance and support teams.

Geiger, a promotional products distributor in Lewiston, promoted Holly Miller to merchandising and marketing support specialist in Crestline, its catalog division. Miller was previously customer care specialist in the division.

Harriman, an architecture firm in Auburn, promoted Lisa Sawin to senior associate and Sharon Ames to associate. Sawin is a senior architect and project manager in the firm's education studio in the firm's Auburn and Portland offices while Ames is a senior architect in the firm's higher education studio in Portland.

Woodard & Curran, an engineering firm in Portland specializing in water and environmental projects, promoted Peter Nangeroni to industrial and commercial strategic business unit leader. Nangeroni most recently served as director of technical practices.

Tedford Housing, a nonprofit agency in Brunswick whose mission is to find lasting solutions to the challenges of homelessness, promoted Danielle Triffitt from office manager to business manager.

Acadia Hospital in Bangor promoted Brent Scobie to vice president for clinician services and quality. Scobie has been with the hospital in a variety of leadership roles for 20 years.

Emera Maine promoted Mike Herrin to president. Herrin joined the electric utility as COO in 2017 after 25 years with Tampa Electric. He will retain the COO role.

Town & Country Federal Credit Union in Scarborough promoted Michael Jackson to director, strategic initiatives and Kori Kaloyares to manager of indirect lending. Jackson was most recently strategic initiatives specialist while Kaloyares was indirect loan officer.

Maine Medical Center in Portland promoted Jo Linder to assistant dean for students, Tufts University School of Medicine, Maine Track Program. Linder, who is an associate professor in both the department of emergency medicine and the department of community medicine and public health at Tufts, has served as the director of student affairs for the hospital for the past eight years.

Appointments

Tedford Housing, a nonprofit agency in Brunswick whose mission is to find lasting solutions to the challenges of homelessness, elected Joyce McPhetres, chief human resources officer at Community Health Options, as president of its board; Roger Brodeur, social service supervisor quality assurance in the Office of Child & Family Services, vice president; Nonny Soifer, an attorney with a private practice in Brunswick, secretary; and Sarah Piper, commercial loan officer at Bath Savings Institution, treasurer. In addition, the organization added Cynthia Dechenes, Toni Kemmerle, David Sinclair and Scott Upham to its board. Dechenes is a family physician at Lincolnhealth Family Care Center; Kemmerle is principal attorney for the Maine Department of Transportation; Sinclair is an attorney; and Upham is a managing partner for Cribstone Capital Management LLC. The nonprofit also said Giff Jamison, director of operations, was appointed to the Sagadahoc County Board of Health.

The Maine Real Estate & Development Association elected Dan Brennan and Shawn McKenna to its board of directors. Brennan is director of MaineHousing while McKenna is vice president, commercial banking at Bangor Savings Bank. The association also named Michael Lane, a partner at Preti Flaherty, as its Public Policy Committee chair.

Maine Community Bancorp, the mutual holding company that owns Mechanics Savings Bank and Biddeford Savings Bank, added Amy Landry and Elaine Runyon to the board of directors for Mechanics Savings Bank. Both will also serve on the Maine Community Bancorp board of directors. Landry is CEO of Maine Optometry PA while Runyon is a CPA and serves as controller at Portland Country Club.

Achievements

Leah Lippmann, an architect and senior interior designer at Knickerbocker Group, a construction company in Boothbay, earned recognition as a Maine Licensed Architect.

Kennebec Savings Bank said it took the top spot on the Forbes list of “Best-In-State Banks and Credit Unions” and was named “Maine's Best Bank.” Forbes partnered with Statista, which compiled the list surveying more than 25,000 customers in the U.S. and receiving feedback on their current and former banking relationships.

Tedford Housing, a nonprofit agency in Brunswick whose mission is to find lasting solutions to the challenges of homelessness, presented its annual awards. Brenda Houdlette was named the “The Margit Cook Award” winner, Oasis Free Clinics captured “The Tedford Home Award” and Doug Morrell won the “The Scooty Brownell Award.” In addition, Danielle Triffitt, business manager, and Pauline Hanson, homeless prevention case manager, were recognized for five years of employment and Donna Verhoeven, Tedford's Merrymeeting Project for homeless youth case manager, was recognized for 10 years with the agency.

Penquis Lynx Mobility Services was named the “2018 Rural Community Transportation System of the Year” by the Community Transportation Association of America.

For the sixth straight year, the Animal Welfare Society in Kennebunk earned a 4-star ranking from Charity Navigator, the leading independent evaluator of nonprofits. The ranking, the highest possible, is based on fiscal responsibility, transparency and accountability.

St. Joseph Healthcare in Bangor announced Renee Bouchard, volunteer services coordinator, was recognized by Maine's Directors of Healthcare Volunteer Services with its “Director of Volunteer Excellence Award” at the Maine Hospital Association's 2018 Summer Forum.
