New hires

Town & Shore Associates, a luxury real estate firm in Portland, hired Joi Kressbach as a broker and owner.

Benchmark Residential & Investment Real Estate in Portland hired Courtney Parsons as executive assistant and Bonnie Tolzmann, Tony Holt, Danielle Smith Bruce, Derek Gordon, Teresa Medved, Ezra Provost, Connie Zhu and Heather Rice as realtors.

Machias Savings Bank hired Karen Coffin as vice president and branch manager of its Middle Street location in Portland and Lucas Morris as vice president, credit business manager.

WBRC Architects Engineers in Portland hired Tyler Johnson as an architect.

Speaking Up for Us of Maine, a self-advocacy organization in Augusta for people living with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, hired Kile Pelletier as employment associate. Pelletier will be working in partnership with Portland-based employment agency, Pro Search Inc.

Gorrill Palmer, a land development, transportation and municipal engineering firm in South Portland, hired Lucas Anthony as land development project manager. Anthony was previously with Bowman Consulting and Kimley-Horn and Associates.

Legacy Properties Sotheby's International Realty, a luxury property company in Portland, hired Sheilah Lloyd as an assistant vice president.

Payroll Management in Auburn hired Jean Domaingue as client services manager and a member of its executive management team.

U.S. Cellular hired Gerry Wilson as business area sales manager for the New England region, including the states of Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. Wilson was most recently with IPCS Wireless.

Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution hired David Jones as a network support specialist. Previously Jones was with The Tech Guys.

Wright-Pierce, an engineering consulting firm in Portland serving public and private clients, hired Kathleen Gierok as a senior project manager in its Orlando, Fla., office.

F.L.Putnam Investment Management Co. in Portland hired Abby Psyhogeos as senior vice president and private client advisor. Psyhogeos was previously with Bainco International Investors, a registered investment advisor based in Boston.

MaineGeneral Surgery in Augusta hired Judith Wood Cook as a vascular surgeon and MaineGeneral Orthopaedics in Augusta hired John Bradford as a surgeon. Cook was previously at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pa., while Bradford, who specializes in total joint replacement, was previously with EMMC Orthopedic Surgical Specialists in Bangor.

Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington hired Dianna White as Medaccess prescription assistance case manager. White has six years of experience assisting those in need of prescription support having previously worked for the grant-funded Franklin Health Access Rx.

Elder Planning Advisors of Maine Inc. in South Portland announced that Hugh O'Shea has affiliated with the firm as an associate advisor.

Dawson, Smith, Purvis & Bassett PA, an accounting firm in Portland, hired Nicole Clement, Lauren Rousseau and Christine Heinemann.

BerryDunn, an accounting and consulting firm in Portland, announced several new hires. In the firm's Audit and Accounting Group, Stephanie Chaca and Alexandra Hall were hired as accountants and Morgan Hilow as auditor. In the Government Consulting Group, Nicole Fellows, James Quentin, Joseph Shagoury and Matthew Tremblay were hired as consultants; Susan Gard-Smith as senior consultant; Louis Krupp as cyber security consultant; and Benjamin Smith as senior content editor. In addition, Kacie McNichol was hired as a tax specialist in the tax group and Emily Marquis as event marketing coordinator in the Marketing Group.

The city of Lewiston hired Denis D'Auteuil as deputy administrator. D'Auteuil is currently assistant city manager and acting city administrator in Auburn.

RE/MAX Shoreline in Portland hired Carol Ann Doucette. Doucette has consistently been a multi-million dollar producer and one of the top agents in the Lakes Region.

Arthur Gary School of Real Estate in Westbrook hired Laurie Barrett as director of training and education. Barrett has more than 25 years of experience in the real estate, title and mortgage-related industries.

Promotions

Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution announced several promotions. Allison Graham was promoted to branch administration officer; Dennis Dalton to assistant vice president; Mary Jane Sawyer to assistant branch manager in Biddeford; Sarah Gonneville to assistant branch manager in South Portland; and Debbie Houle, Kathleen Williamson and Katrina Desjardins to customer relationship officers. In addition, Beth Caron transferred to the compliance department, where she will work as a compliance specialist.

Patrons Oxford Insurance Co. in Auburn promoted Rachel Bannister to assistant vice president of marketing.

Unum, a disability insurance company in Portland, promoted Matthew Monaghan to senior vice president of corporate and regulatory and general counsel of the Closed Block segment of business. Monaghan was most recently head of the corporate and regulatory legal team.

Shelly Shibles was promoted to regional vice president of quality and safety for Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway and Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington. Shibles started at Stephens Memorial in 1999 in a clinical role before moving into administration to manage quality and safety.

Appointments

Telford Allen III was recently elected as a director of Machias Savings Bank, Machias Bancorp, MHC and its subsidiaries.

Bruce Holmes was elected as secretary by the 15-member national Century 21 Commercial Advisory Board for 2017-18. Holmes, who has served on the board since 2006, is president of Century 21 Venture Ltd in Augusta.

Achievements

Huston & Co., a firm in Kennebunkport that designs and builds custom furniture for library and academic institutions and corporate environments, received a gold award in LibraryWorks' third annual Modern Library Awards.

The Bicycle Coalition of Maine in Portland announced the winners of its 2017 annual awards: Crystal Hitchings, “Sally Jacobs Community Spokesperson Award;” Kris Clark, “Jeff Miller Spirit of Cycling Award;” Anne Douglass, “Next Generation Award;” The Law Enforcement Collaborative, “Just Do It Award;” Peter Garrett, “Harry Faust Leadership Award;” Kris Sornberger, “Muddy Wheel Award;” Scott Spaulding, “Volunteer of the Year Award;” and Ransom Consulting, “Businesses for Better Bicycling Award.”

Greg Burgess, LEED AP and commissioning services manager at SMRT Architects and Engineers in Portland, earned the Association of Energy Engineers' Certified Energy Manager credential, which denotes professionals who optimize the energy performance of a facility, building or industrial plant.

Inland Hospital in Waterville said that President and CEO John Dalton was named as one of the “60 Rural Hospital CEOs to Know” by Becker's Hospital Review, a national publication.

Paul Smith, line manager at Maine Instrument Flight in Augusta, achieved the National Air Transportation Association's Safety First Certificates for the FBO-Fixed Base Operator, Supervisor and Fuel Service Supervisor. 

Habib Dagher, executive director of the University of Maine's Advanced Structures and Composites Center in Orono, was named one of “2016's Top 25 Newsmakers” by Engineering-News Record. 

The Maine Real Estate & Development Association recently presented its 2017 awards. Winners included Lawrence Wold, president in Maine for TD Bank, “The Robert B. Patterson Jr. Founders' Award;” Michael O'Reilly, senior vice president and southern Maine commercial team lead for Bangor Savings Bank, “The President's Award;” Theresa Hodge, senior vice president and senior commercial lender at Bath Savings Institution, and Josh Fifield, account executive in the business insurance department at Clark Insurance, “Volunteer of the Year Award;” and Rick Licht, founder and president of Licht Environmental Design, “The Public Policy Award.”

Holly Shields, a personal insurance account manager at L.S. Robinson Co. in Southwest Harbor, was named “2016 Affiliate Member of the Year” by the Acadia Council of REALTORS.

Portland Police Chief Michael Sauschuck was named the “David W. Pickering Chief's Award” winner as police chief of the year by the Maine Association of Police. In addition, Portland officer Jeff Hawkins received the “Larry Gross Cop's Cop Award” and officer Christian Stickney of Portland PD and North Edge K-9 received the “President's Recognition Award.”

Drummond Woodsum, a law firm in Portland, announced that attorney Ed Benjamin Jr. was awarded the President's Recognition Award by the Maine Association of Police. Benjamin specializes in defending police officers and their employers in litigation arising out of their public safety functions.

The city of Auburn said that Fire Chief Geoffrey Low earned the professional designation of Chief Fire Officer awarded by the Center for Public Safety Excellence.

Cary Medical Center in Caribou announced that Kris Doody, registered nurse and CEO, was named as one of the “60 Rural Hospital CEOs to Know” by Becker's Hospital Review, a national publication.

Pierce Atwood, a law firm in Portland, said that Gavin McCarthy, litigation partner, was named by corporate counsel to the BTI Client Service All-Stars 2017.
