Lawyer appeals reprimand in ‘robo-signing’ cases

Paul Peck, a lawyer who led Drummond & Drummond’s foreclosure division, is appealing a reprimand sought against him by the Maine Board of Overseers of the Bar.

The Bangor Daily News reported that Peck has contested the bar’s reprimand. The reprimand is being sought after the bar determined that he had failed to “take immediate and effective action” about clients that were “robo-signing” foreclosure documents in 2010 without first checking their accuracy of having the papers authenticated.

Peck’s lawyer, James Bowie, told the newspaper he is seeking to lower the bar’s punishment to a warning because “the factual findings don’t support the imposition of any discipline at all.”
