Mattson closes $2.5M deal with MaineGeneral

A Mattson Development subsidiary has closed on a $2.5 million deal for a MaineGeneral Medical Center building in Augusta that is slated to close as part of the hospital's reconfiguration plans, according to the Kennebec Journal.

The deal announced in early December gives the Augusta East Redevelopment Corp. the East Chestnut Street building of MaineGeneral Medical Center, which will be relocated to a new regional hospital in north Augusta.

Until that project's expected completion in November, the paper reported, MaineGeneral will pay around $1 million annually in rent to the new owners, whose plans include redevelopment of the building into office space.

In Augusta, Mattson Development most recently took on a $50 million project to develop the Central Maine Commerce Center.
