New constitutional officers assume posts today

Gov. Paul LePage is set to swear in the three constitutional officers tapped by legislative Democrats during a ceremony today, The Associated Press reported.

Janet Mills and Matthew Dunlap will return to the attorney general and secretary of state posts they occupied before Republicans took control of the Legislature in 2010.

Current Maine auditor Neria Douglass is set to take over as state treasurer and a newly elected auditor, Pola Buckley, will also be sworn in to fill that role.

The incoming officers will replace Attorney General William Schneider, Secretary of State Charlie Summers and Treasurer Bruce Poliquin.
