New retail and services planned for Thomaston

Two new chain outlets, Aspen Dental and Mattress Firm, will be opening in Thomaston as early as late spring, the PenBay Pilot reported.

The stores will anchor a four-tenant, 11,000-square-foot, one-story building and parking lot adjacent to Route 1. Two other tenant spaces in the building remain vacant.

The new stores will be near a Walmart and a Tractor Supply.

Thomaston Code Enforcement Officer William Wasson said the space soon to be occupied by Aspen Dental was originally designed for a restaurant. However, Wasson told the paper, he learned that the “economy is not that great and restaurants just are not expanding.”
