New hires

Community Partners Inc., a nonprofit in Biddeford that supports adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities, recently hired Dorothy Moreau as human resources director. Moreau was previously the human resources director at Profile Bank in Rochester, N.H.

CEI, a private nonprofit rural community development corporation and community development financial institution in Wiscasset, recently announced several new hires. Brad Bennett was hired as IT assistant; Rose Creps as agriculture business specialist in the Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems program; Ray Farrell as technical services network administrator; Jody Gould as loan administrator for CEI Lending; Sarah Matel as senior credit officer; and Cole Palmer as loan and investment officer.

The Maine Children's Home for Little Wanderers' Harland Turner Family Counseling Center in Waterville recently hired Debra Levenseller as clinical director and adoption supervisor. Levenseller was previously an outpatient therapist at Assistance Plus in Benton.

Eastern Maine Development Corp. in Bangor recently hired Dorathy Martel as community development specialist and Kent Quiet as a business development specialist.

Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington recently hired Richard Renzi, MD. Renzi is board-certified in emergency, critical care and internal medicine, and previously provided emergency medicine services at St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor.

AcademicMerit, a developer of educational software in Portland, recently hired Dan Powdermaker as CEO and announced that Ogden Morse, the company's founder, moved to the new position of chief product officer.

North Yarmouth Academy in Yarmouth recently hired Kelly Dun as director of enrollment management and financial aid. Dun was previously the director of enrollment management at Princeton Day School in Princeton, N.J.

Fluid Imaging Technologies, a laboratory instrumentation manufacturer in Scarborough, recently hired Bruce Dalton as vice president of engineering and product development. Previously Dalton was with Enercon Technologies in Gray.

Occupational Medical Consulting in Leeds recently hired Rachel Jensen as a Florida health coach.

The American Red Cross of Maine recently hired Jim Tracey as AmeriCorps VISTA for the Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces programs and Larry French as disaster program manager for the coastal territory representing Hancock, Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc, Waldo and Washington counties.

Harriman, an architecture and engineering firm in Auburn, recently hired Paul Noble, Karen Schacht and John Ellis. Noble, previously an electrical designer with Hannaford, was hired as a designer in the electrical engineering studio in Auburn and Ellis was hired as a designer in its architectural studio in Auburn. Schacht was hired as a senior project architect in the firm's Manchester, N.H., office.

Fisher & Phillips, a law firm in Portland, recently hired Betty Olivier as an of counsel attorney.

The University of New England recently hired James Hanley as the dean of the College of Dental Medicine in Portland. Hanley was most recently the associate dean for clinical affairs and associate professor of periodontology at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.

WBRC Architects • Engineers in Portland recently hired Will Pogar as principal and Portland region manager and Richard Borrelli as principal and health care studio director. The firm also hired Jon Towle as architectural designer and project manager.

Market Decisions LLC, a market research firm in Portland, recently hired Michael Sears as research analyst, Mark Noyes as research assistant, Bethany Porter as marketing coordinator and Christine Allen as field services manager.

Creative Portland, a nonprofit that supports Portland's creative industries, enterprises and work force, recently hired Jess Lauren Lipton as programming assistant.

Promotions

Chalmers Insurance Group in Bridgton recently named Steven Cote as president. Cote previously led the company's New Hampshire operations. The agency also announced that Bruce Chalmers, who had served as president of the agency, will retain an of-counsel role and serve as chairman of the board of directors while William Chalmers will also be of counsel and serve as treasurer of the board.

NL Partners, an advertising and marketing agency in Portland, recently promoted Russ Leonard to president. Leonard was previously chief marketing strategist.

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust recently announced several promotions. Androscoggin Bank in Lewiston recently promoted Kelly Dorsey to assistant vice president and a business and government services officer. Kelly was previously retail manager for the Maine Street and Cook's Corner branches in Brunswick.

Bernstein Shur, a law firm in Portland, recently elected Shana Cook Mueller, Edward Sackman, Philip Saucier and Hawley Strait as shareholders. Pierce Atwood LLP, a law firm in Portland, recently announced that partner Andrea Cianchette Maker joined John Delahanty, senior government relations partner, as co-leader of the firm's government relations practice group. Burns & McDonnell, an engineering, architecture, construction, environmental and consulting services firm in Portland, recently promoted Nicole Fortier to project controls specialist. Fortier previously worked in the firm's project controls department in Wallingford, Conn.

U.S. Cellular in Bangor recently promoted Bill Gilbert to director of sales for the New England Business Channel in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. Previously, Gilbert was the business area sales manager in New England.

Preti Flaherty, a law firm in Portland, recently named attorneys Steven Hudson and Andrew Landry as partners. Hudson and Landry both previously practiced as of counsel in the firm's Augusta office.

Kim Anania was recently elected to the board of directors of Friends of Casco Bay/Casco Baykeeper in South Portland. Anania founded KMA Consulting in Falmouth.

The board of directors of the Volunteers of America Northern New England recently voted Sarah Davies as board chairwoman and Cindy Namer as vice chairwoman.

The Maine Municipal Association's Executive Committee recently appointed Ellsworth City Manager Michelle Beal as vice president and Nicholas Mavodones, city councilor in Portland, as past president.

Day One, a nonprofit agency in South Portland that works to prevent and treat adolescent substance abuse, recently elected the following officers to its board of directors: Kevin Freeman, president, director of business development, AlliedCook Construction; Doug Cranshaw, vice president; Zander Abbott, treasurer, administrative fellow at Maine Medical Center; and David Mount, secretary.

Creative Portland, a nonprofit that supports Portland's creative industries, enterprises and work force, recently added Robert Cote, Randy Dee Ferrell and Mark Rubin to its board. Cote is the facility manager, real estate solutions, for KeyBank; Ferrell is a Realtor at Keller Williams; and Rubin is the director of court and corrections research at Hornby Zeller Associates Inc. Achievements

Maine Rural Water Association recently announced that Point Sebago, a vacation resort in Casco, was the winner for the best non-disinfected water and the best tasting overall water for the state of Maine. The resort will represent Maine at the Great American Water Taste Test in Washington, D.C., in February.

CEI, a private nonprofit rural community development corporation and community development financial institution in Wiscasset, recently announced that Daniel Wallace, program developer for sustainable agriculture, was selected by the Opportunity Finance Network and the Citi Foundation as one of 50 Community Development Financial Institution professionals to take part in the Citi Leadership Program for Opportunity Finance.

ShoreMaster waterfront products recently recognized Hammond Lumber Co. with a Platinum Dealer Award as well as awards for service and marketing.

Earle W. Noyes and Sons Moving Specialist in Portland was recently presented with a President's Club Award at the $2 million level, honoring agents who have generated at least $1 million in sales for the United Van Lines system during the past year.

Betsy Patton and Lois Moran of Hurley Travel in Portland were recently listed as super agents and included on the “A List” of top U.S. travel industry experts by Travel & Leisure magazine.

The Maine Medical Center Physician-Hospital Organization, in conjunction with the Practice Change Leaders program, recently announced that Cynthia Tack, director of care coordination, was selected to participate in the second cohort of The Practice Change Leaders program. Ten individuals were selected from professionals who responded to a nationwide call for applications.

The Maine Hospital Association recently announced that nine of its members were on the Leapfrog Group's 2013 Top Rural Hospitals list including Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, Blue Hill; Calais Regional Hospital, Calais; Charles A. Dean Memorial Hospital, Greenville; Down East Community Hospital, Machias; Houlton Regional Hospital, Houlton; Inland Hospital, Waterville; LincolnHealth (Miles Campus), Damariscotta; Sebasticook Valley Health, Pittsfield; and Stephens Memorial Hospital, Norway.

Moose Landing Marina in Naples was recently presented an outstanding dealer award as a national sales leader for the Nautic Global Group boat product lines for the 2013 model year.

Achievements Central Maine Partners in Health, a locally owned occupational clinic in Auburn, recently announced that Ian Buchan and Stacie Kunas passed the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners exam. The exam is a federal program that establishes requirements for health care professionals who perform physical qualification examinations on truck and bus drivers to support public safety.

WEX Inc., a provider of corporate payment solutions in South Portland, recently announced that its chairman, Michael Dubyak, was awarded the Alton “Chuck” Cianchette Business Hall of Fame award from the Maine State Chamber of Commerce. The award annually recognizes the contributions of an individual who demonstrates public service leadership, business success and embodies Cianchette's spirit through compassion, courage and commitment.

Vets First Choice, an online pet pharmacy in Portland, was recently officially accredited as a Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation compounding pharmacy for non-sterile medications. The accreditation indicates the company ranks among the best compounding pharmacies in the country for compliance with quality standards.

The American Institute of Architects Maine Chapter recently announced the recipients of its inaugural Committee on the Environment Awards program. Kaplan Thompson Architects won the top award, the Honor Award, for its project, Ranch Revival. Other awards winners included: Merit Award, Scott Simons Architects, Hodgdon Pond House; Citation, Rick Renner Architects, Buzzards Bay Center; and Citation, Maclay Architects and Scott Simons Architects, Borsarge Family Education Center.

Husson University's School of Pharmacy in Bangor recently announced that three members of its clinical faculty successfully earned their Board of Pharmacy Specialties certification. Stephanie Nichols passed the Psychiatric Pharmacy Board Examination and is now a board-certified psychiatric pharmacist; Allison Strobel passed the Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Board Examination and is now a board-certified ambulatory care pharmacist; and Evan Williams passed the Pharmacotherapy Pharmacy Board Examination and is now a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist.
