New hires

Legacy Properties Sotheby's International Realty, a luxury real estate company in Portland, hired Tim Kennedy and Jim Nadeau as vice presidents.

Fontaine – The Real Estate Leader in Auburn hired Diane Brule as an associate broker.

Sewall, a consulting firm in Old Town specializing in energy, infrastructure and natural resources, hired Connie Li Krampf as certified photogrammetrist/analyst. Krampf was previously chief geomatics specialist at Quantum Spatial in Sheboygan, Wisc.

The John T. Gorman Foundation in Portland hired Sara Gagné-Holmes as a senior program associate. Gagné-Holmes was previously executive director of Maine Equal Justice Partners.

Citizens Commercial Banking, the commercial banking division of Citizens Financial Group, hired Michael Griffin as senior vice president and senior relationship manager in Portland. Most recently, Griffin was a senior vice president and senior client manager for Bank of America Merrill Lynch in Portland.

St.Germain Collins, an environmental consulting and engineering firm in Westbrook, hired Peter Mohlin as an environmental health & safety specialist and Tami Somers as staff accountant and human resources manager.

Verrill Dana, a law firm in Portland, hired Joanna Bowers and Nora Lawrence as associates.

Community Credit Union in Lewiston hired Ashley Ward as a member representative.

Bernstein Shur, a law firm in Portland, added Jennifer Riggle as a shareholder. Riggle joined the firm's business law practice group and health care team.

The First N.A. in Bar Harbor hired Sarah Tolman as senior vice president/branch administration, Lorianne Jackson as branch manager in Ellsworth and Megan Maskus as branch manager in Southwest Harbor. Tolman was previously area retail leader for Key Bank's Southern Maine market and Knox County branch manager, Jackson was with Eaton Peabody in real estate law and Maskus was a call center team manager with TD Bank.

The Board of Directors of Creative Work Systems, a Portland nonprofit serving people with disabilities, hired Heidi Howard as executive director.

Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution hired Jennifer Plourde as vice president and branch manager in South Portland. Plourde was most recently a store manager at TD Bank.

Spurwink, a nonprofit in Portland that provides mental health and educational services for children, adolescents, adults and families, hired Kane Loukas as vice president of children's services and Mary Celia O'Neil as human resources director. Loukas most recently was vice president of children's services at The Opportunity Alliance and O'Neil was human resources director for Hospice of Southern Maine.

WMTW in Portland hired Sarah Long as a meteorologist.

The Board of Directors of The Foundation for Maine's Community Colleges announced Jane Phillips will serve as the organization's second president. Phillips was previously director of development for the Yale School of Art and Yale University Library.

USI Insurance Services in South Portland hired Maureen Labbe as a senior account manager and Brenda Spurling as an account manager in commercial insurance.

United Country – McPhail Realty in Lincoln hired Morgan McPhail and Doug Reed as sales associates.

Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution named Melanie Lee branch manager in Scarborough. Lee was previously branch manager in South Portland.

Avesta Housing in Portland promoted Matthew Peters to vice president of real estate services. Peters was previously director of assets.

TD Bank promoted Jessica Beal to assistant vice president, store manager at 217 High St. in Ellsworth. Beal was previously a store supervisor.

U.S. Cellular promoted Will Winslow to store manager 730 Center St. in Auburn and Ashley Hall to administrative assistant to the directors of sales in New England. Winslow was previously sales manager in Westbrook while Hall was the retail administrative assistant for company-owned retail managers.

Bangor Savings Bank promoted Stephan Woods, vice president, to its commercial and business banking team as a senior business banker in the Portland area. Woods was previously the regional market manager for southern Maine.

Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution promoted Bernice Wood to business development officer and Lynne Belanger to manager of its Saco and Biddeford branches.

Sunday River Resort in Newry promoted Sarah Devlin to director of communications. Devlin previously worked in the resort's communications department and served as acting director of communications in 2012.

Appointments

The Kids First Center in Portland added Susan Bixby to its board of directors. Bixby is a partner and practices family law at MittelAsen LLC.

Stephen Letourneau, CEO of Catholic Charities Maine, was appointed to the executive committee of the Council of Diocesan Directors for Catholic Charities USA, a national committee that provides guidance and a look into the on-the-ground realities of local social service providers.

Staci Coomer, executive director of Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce, was reappointed to the board of the Midcoast Economic Development District and appointed president of The Midcoast Chamber Council.

The Maine Senate confirmed the three-year appointment of Edwin Heisler, a director at Portland law firm Troubh Heisler, to the Maine Board of Tax Appeals. The board provides taxpayers with a fair system of resolving tax controversies arising from the assessment of Maine income, sales and inheritance taxes.

Achievements

Lisa Goodwin, Bangor city clerk, received the Lorraine M. Fleury award at the Maine State Elections Administration conference in Bangor. The award is presented to an individual who has made a contribution to the election process and who exemplifies the qualities of fairness, experience, knowledge and service.

The Martha B. Webber Breast Care Center in Farmington achieved the status of certified participant in the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers Program. The status represents a commitment by the center to provide the highest quality breast health care to patients in its community.

The Wellness Council of Maine, a program of the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce, recognized the following for helping improve employee wellness in their regions of Maine: Move and Improve, a community health program of Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems; Sheila Costello and the nutrition services staff at Waldo County General Hospital; Cianbro Corp.; and Healthy Maine Streets.

The Greater Bangor Association of Realtors named Roland Narofsky, regional vice president of Bangor and Brewer for Maine Savings, affiliate of the year.

The Scarborough Economic Development Corporation's board of directors announced the recipients of its Outstanding Scarborough Business awards including El Rayo Taqueria, project of the year; Heidi's House Child Care Center, outstanding legacy business; Broadturn Farm, outstanding hidden gem; and Rocco Risbara Jr., outstanding contribution to community.

GCMD, a marketing and design firm in Portland, won an American Graphic Design Award in the website design category for designing and developing a site for a local bakery.

Melinda Caterine, a partner at Portland law firm Fisher & Phillips LLP, was listed in Who's Who Legal: Management Labour & Employment 2014.

Christian Rodriguez, utility asset coordinator at the Portland Water District, completed a 12-month Management Candidate School program for water and water pollution control professionals.

Eaton Peabody, a law firm in Bangor, was awarded the leaders for growth award from Blackstone Accelerates Growth. The firm was recognized for supporting the creation of the Bangor Angel Fund, an organization that gives innovators and startups access to patient capital; for its efforts to build the Bangor Innovation Hub; and its involvement in supporting events like Maine Startup and Create Week and the BigGig Pitch contest.
