New hires

CES Inc., a firm of engineers, environmental scientists and land surveyors in Brewer, hired Dylan Miller as a project professional in the firm's engineering division in Saco.

Northeast Bank in Portland hired Cheryl Brandt as vice president, retail market manager and Johanna Lloyd as mortgage loan officer. Brandt was previously senior vice president and executive recruiting consultant with Pemberton & Associates while Lloyd was assistant vice president, retail lending officer at Mechanic Savings Bank in Auburn.

BerryDunn, an accounting and consulting firm in Portland, announced several new hires. In its administrative group Jeremy Newton Davenport was hired as a systems administrator, Pamela Juergens as receptionist and Becky Morton as administrative assistant and Menglu Cai was hired as senior in the audit and accounting group. In the firm's consulting group, Cindy Belcher, Kirsten Bickford, Rachel Moss Capper, Michele Addison Mosher and Michelle Unterschutz were hired as senior consultants; Melanie Boothe, Jessica Dill, Annie Messinger, Danni Glo Ricks and Courtney Rombow as staff consultants; Yang Ji as manager and Molly Young as business development specialist. In the tax group, Benjamin Chase and Michael Pappavasiliou were hired as tax specialists and Michael Mastroianni as senior manager.

Simon Property Group, a global retail real estate company, hired Matthew Volpe as area operations director overseeing all operational functions, projects, construction and contracted services at Kittery Premium Outlets. Most recently, Volpe was a regional facilities manager for CBRE.

Bergen & Parkinson, a law firm in Kennebunk, hired Danielle Quinlan as an associate attorney focusing on civil litigation and employment law. Quinlan previously worked as an associate in the Law Office of Guy Loranger in Old Orchard Beach.

Final Draft CAD LLC, a Portland consulting firm that specializes in building information modeling (BIM) and computer-aided design (CAD), hired Mark Taylor as an IT/BIM technology manager in support of emerging virtual reality, augmented reality and UAV/drone solutions. Taylor was previously with OneVision Resources and Apple Corp.

Phi Builders + Architects in Rockport hired Charles Frattini as director of general contracting. Frattini has 30 years of experience in commercial and residential construction in the New York City.

Penobscot Community Health Care in Bangor hired Sandra Ewer as a women's health nurse practitioner. Ewer has 20 years of nursing experience in the greater Bangor region.

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust hired Erinn Rossignol as branch relationship manager in Topsham. Rossignol was previously human resources manager at Hyde School in Bath.

Waterville Creates!, an arts and cultural organization in Waterville, hired Bethany Savage as development director, Phoebe Sanborn as administrative assistant and Tamara Casoria as marketing coordinator. Savage was previously with Island Institute and owns Bethany Savage Fine Art, Sanborn was with Metropolitan Valuation Services in New York City and Casoria is a marketing management major at Thomas College.

CD&M, an advertising agency in Portland, hired Bethany Lavoie as account director and Kevin Smith as media coordinator. Lavoie previously worked for Pierce Promotions while Smith was with Alternative Strategies.

OTELCO, a telecommunications provider New Gloucester, hired Michael Lynch as a sales account executive and Casey McDougal as a sales support representative in Bangor. Lynch was previously a retail sales specialist for Time Warner Cable while McDougal was a customer service representative with Hartt Transportation Systems.

Promotions

Loon Echo Land Trust in Bridgton promoted Matt Markot to executive director. Markot most recently worked for the organization supporting its stewardship and conservation easement programs, in addition to organizing the 2018 Loon Echo Trek. He also worked as a part-time consultant through Sebago Clean Waters to support both Loon Echo and Western Foothills Land Trusts with its conservation efforts.

Kennebunk Land Trust promoted Sarah Stanley to director. Stanley, who is a registered recreational Maine guide, was previously the organization's development and administrative manager.

Jackson Laboratory, an independent, nonprofit biomedical research institution in Bar Harbor, promoted Thomas Ellis to chief human resources officer. Ellis was previously director of total rewards and human resources systems.

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Maine promoted Denise McDonough to president of the organization's commercial business in Maine. McDonough was regional vice president of sales for the New Hampshire commercial plan.

U.S. Sen. Angus King promoted Kathleen Connery Dawe to chief of staff, Jack Faherty to Maine press secretary and Marge Kilkelly as a regional representative in King's state offices representing Androscoggin County.

OTELCO, a telecommunications provider New Gloucester, promoted Margaret Lowry Brown to senior director of customer operations. Lowry Brown most recently was director of sales support and service delivery. Additionally, Rebecca Ingalls was promoted to sales account executive and Adam Gross to sales support representative in the company's Bangor office.

Stroudwater Associates, a national health care consulting firm in Portland, promoted Jeffrey Sommer to managing director. Previously, Sommer was the leader of the firm's affiliations and partnerships and capital planning and access service lines. Additionally, Gail Belt was promoted to administrator and Heidi Larson to senior consultant. Belt was previously assistant administrator while Larson is a family physician with 20 years of clinical experience.

Skelton Taintor & Abbott, a law firm in Auburn, promoted Jim Pross to shareholder. Pross's practice areas include workers' compensation law, commercial real estate, municipal and government law and social security disability.

Bernstein Shur, a law firm in Portland, promoted Helen Coburn, Meredith Eilers, Christina Ferrari, Talesha Saint-Marc and Jack Woodcock to shareholders. Coburn is a member of the firm's business law practice group and co-chair of the group's private capital team, Eilers the litigation and dispute resolution and construction law practice groups, Ferrari the litigation and dispute resolution, business, and health care practice groups, Saint-Marc the labor and employment practice group and Woodcock the litigation and dispute resolution practice group.

Berman and Simmons, a law firm in Lewiston, promoted Travis Brennan and Dov Sacks to partner. Brennan represents clients in claims involving medical malpractice, personal injury and defective products while Sacks represents clients in medical malpractice and personal injury and has developed a specialty practice in Maritime Law.

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust promoted Jayme DeMers to vice president, retail delivery and strategic initiatives and Carissa Look to vice president, quality assurance manager. DeMers was an assistant vice president while Look was quality assurance department manager.

Schoodic Institute at Acadia National Park in Winter Harbor promoted Nicholas Fisichelli to director of science and education.

Appointments

Stroudwater Associates, a national health care consulting firm in Portland, appointed Eric Shell, the longtime leader of the firm's rural practice, to chair of its board of directors.

Trademark Federal Credit Union in Augusta added Zoe Wall to its board of directors and Dana Winslow as associate board director and supervisory committee member. Wall is a retirement principle pension analyst at Retail Business Services while Winslow is retired.

Maine Municipal Association in Augusta elected Mary Sabins as president of its Executive Committee and Christine Landes as vice president. Sabins is town manager in Vassalboro while Landes is city manager in Gardiner.

Junior League of Portland said Jessica Nason was elected president for the 2020-21 league year. Nason is director of marketing and operations at Portside Real Estate Group.

Nancy Kennedy, vice president for Camp Chewonki in Wiscasset, was named to the Wiscasset Chamber of Commerce.

Mitchell Institute in Portland selected Christopher Pierce as board chair and Sara Burns as vice chair. Pierce is chairman of the Dingley Press in Lisbon while Burns recently retired as CEO of Central Maine Power. In addition, Bruce Epstein, president of Odysseys Unlimited; Scott Maker, senior vice president and deputy general counsel for Unum; Rebecca Mills, manager of partner services and indirect tax at WEX Inc.; Alison Nathanson, director of the MaineHealth Recruitment Center; and Nicole Witherbee, chief program officer at the John T. Gorman Foundation, were named board members.

Achievements

Bergen & Parkinson LLC, a law firm in Kennebunk, was named the “Distressed M&A Deal of the Year” award from M&A Advisor for the firm's role in restructuring Legacy Supply Chain Holdings Inc., a multi-national supply chain and logistics company. The award will be presented in March.

Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce named Deanna Sherman, president and CEO of Dead River Co., and David Brenerman, former Portland mayor, city councilor and state legislator, as its 2018-29 award recipients for “Leadership in the Private Sector.”

Jim Chalmers, vice president, sales for Chalmers Insurance Group in Bridgton, was recognized as an “Insurance Journal 2018 Insurance Agent of the Year.”

Huston & Co., furniture makers in Kennebunkport, received the “Platinum Award” in LibraryWorks' fifth annual Modern Library Awards, which were created to recognize the top products and services in the library industry.

Cellardoor wines in Lincolnville said it won 24 awards, including two “Best of Class” awards for 2017 Riesling (Unreleased) and 2017 Chenin Blanc (Unreleased) at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. In addition, the winery won three “Double Golds” and five “Golds.”
