New hires

Murray Plumb & Murray, a law firm in Portland, hired Fulton Rice as an associate attorney. Rice’s practice focuses largely on real estate and corporate matters.

Northern Light Mercy Hospital in Portland hired Beverly Wood as a physician assistant at Northern Light Mercy Primary Care in South Portland.

Good To-Go, a dehydrated gourmet meal brand in Kittery, hired Kristen Murphy as marketing manager. Murphy previously worked in digital marketing at Vibram Corp.

The Finance Authority of Maine in Augusta hired Jonathan Poole as director of strategic growth and Sarah Nadeau-Balducci as deputy general counsel. Poole was formerly at the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development while Nadeau-Balducci was a criminal prosecutor.

The University of New England in Biddeford hired Jim Irwin as senior vice president of finance and administration. Previously, Irwin was CFO and vice president for business and finance at Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pa.

Thompson Bowie & Hatch, a law firm in Portland, hired Tamra Wallace and Grayson Szczepaniak as associate attorneys.

Littler, an international employment and labor law practice with offices in Portland, hired James Thelen as of counsel. Thelen was general counsel and chief legal officer at the University of Maine System.

Promotions

UScellular promoted Alan Collins to store manager in Farmington, Evan Travers to store manager in Westbrook and Gary Hebert to store manager in Rockland. Collins was previously a sales manager in Belmont, N.H., Travers is also store manager in Scarborough and Hebert was store manager in Farmington.

Thompson Bowie & Hatch, a law firm in Portland, promoted Hanni Pastinen to partner.

Community Concepts Inc. in Lewiston promoted Kimberly Bessette to director of children’s services. Bessette was previously the department’s associate director.

Great Falls Construction in Gorham promoted Julie Curran to managing director, Lindsay Nason to human resource manager and Becky Hole to senior property manager. Curran was director of business development, Nason was human resource payroll coordinator and Hole was property manager.

Rinck Advertising in Lewiston promoted Nate Perkins to digital project manager and senior manager of system technology. Perkins was previously a systems administrator.

Goodwill Northern New England in Gorham promoted Lydia Seliano to LifeWorks deaf services program coordinator; Logan Maskell to health services program coordinator; Arthur Mosen to senior program manager, workforce services; Stacey Tupper to learning and development analyst; Tim Wescott to financial analyst; Scot Larrabee to assistant store manager in Augusta; Bailey Austin to shift supervisor in Brewer; Ashley McAlpine and Courtney Drinkwater to workforce services program managers; Charles Kalisa to health services program coordinator I; and Tracie Woodbury-Anglin to shift supervisor in Augusta.

Katahdin Trust in Houlton promoted Billi Griffeth to senior vice president, community banking; Melissa Dahlgren and Rebecca Kord to community banking team leader, vice presidents; Leslie Gardner to senior vice president, retail lending; and Danelle Weston to retail underwriting manager, vice president. Griffeth was regional vice president, retail banking; Dahlgren and Kord were assistant vice president, branch manager and community banking officers; Gardner was vice president, retail lending; and Weston was retail underwriting officer.

Appointments

The Government of Canada appointed Susan Morris to honorary consul for Canada in Maine. Morris is principal of Susan V. Morris LLC, a business strategy firm in Portland.

The Maine Community College System in Augusta added Winnie LaRochelle as student trustee on its board of trustees. LaRochelle recently graduated with an associate degree in criminal justice from Central Maine Community College in Auburn and will continue her studies, pursuing an advanced certificate in police operations at the College.

Gorham Savings Bank added Katie Harris to its board of directors. Harris is chief government affairs officer for MaineHealth.

ReVision Energy, a solar company in South Portland, elected Fiona Wilson to its board of directors. Wilson is the director of the University of New Hampshire’s sustainability institute.

Achievements

Heart of Ellsworth said it was designated as an Affiliate Main Street America program for meeting performance standards established by Main Street America.

Portland Water District said that Concord Coachlines, Cozy Harbor Seafood, ecomaine Landfill, ecomaine Waste-to-Energy, D.L. Geary Brewing, Kimberly Clark Larsen-Chapman Landfill, Northern Light Mercy Hospital, NNEPRA-AMTRAK, NRC and Squier’s Specialty Edibles/the Savory Bastard LLC all achieved full compliance with its industrial discharge permits for the 2022-23 Industrial Pretreatment year, which ended on April 30th.

Sargent Corp., a general contractor in Orono, marked the 10th anniversary of 100% employee ownership in May.

Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington held its annual “Nursing Excellence and Nursing Care Partner” awards in conjunction with National Nurses Week. Registered Nurses Nicole Bessey and Charlene Cushing and Certified Nursing Assistant Anna Given were recognized as award winners. In addition, Medical Assistant Wendy Hall was presented with the “Nursing Partner Award.”

Dan Ross, a Catholic Charities Maine volunteer for Refugee & Immigration Services, was one of five finalists for the “2023 Catholic Charities USA Volunteer of the Year.”

Amy Bowen, a member of the business insurance team at Allen Insurance and Financial in Camden, earned the Certified Professional Insurance Agent designation from the American Insurance Marketing and Sales Society.

The U.S. Small Business Administration announced Dirigo Labs as a Stage One winner for the “2023 Growth Accelerator Fund Competition.” The Waterville-based accelerator will receive a $50,000 cash prize to build strategic partnerships supporting the launch, growth, and scale of STEM/R&D-focused small businesses by creating an SBIR/STTR media lab.

Brown, Holmes & Milliken Agency, an insurance agency in Ellsworth, was named to “The Hanover Insurance Group’s President’s Club,” a select group of 2,100 independent agents nationwide.

The Maine Center for Palliative Medicine, an offering of Androscoggin Home Healthcare + Hospice in Lewiston, announced that Nathaniel Sands and Amy Hesby were selected for the “Nurse Practitioner Fellowship” for the year 2023.
