Portland co. gets $450K USDA loan to buy post office

A Portland-based company, 326 Roosevelt Trail LLC, will receive a $456,021 loan guarantee from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to purchase a Casco property leased by the U.S. Postal Service.

According to a press release, the Casco post office has been a tenant in that building for over 10 years, where it currently employs three people. There are no changes planned for the space.

The company, which filed for incorporation with the state on Nov. 21, 2012, will receive a portion of the financing through Androscoggin Bank as a part of the USDA's Rural Development Program, which aims to provide assistance to economic development projects in rural areas.

Androscoggin Bank provided a portion of the financing for the company's purchase of the nearly 3,000-square-foot post office building, according to a release from the USDA.
