Portland law firm Bernstein Shur names 4 shareholders

Bernstein Shur, Maine's largest law firm, has elected four attorneys as shareholders across the firm’s diverse practice groups.

Rachael McEntee

Rachael McEntee is an attorney in the energy and environmental law practice group, where she advises project sponsors, investors and financial institutions in developing, acquiring and selling renewable energy projects and representing clients in front of the Maine Public Utilities Commission.

McEntee has extensive experience in contracts, project development planning and environmental diligence. She holds a Juris Doctor degree from the Boston University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University. She is admitted to practice in Maine and Massachusetts.

Molly Gilligan

Molly Gilligan is an attorney in the firm’s health care, labor and employment practice groups. She assists employers with aspects of employee benefits, focusing on self-insured plans, cafeteria plans, health reimbursement arrangements, public sector retirement plans, and compliance.

Gilligan has experience with the U.S. Department of Labor and the Internal Revenue Service correction programs. Her practice also includes representing home and community-based service providers. She is admitted to practice in Maine and Pennsylvania.

Gilligan holds a Juris Doctor from the Quinnipiac University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine.

Hilary Rheaume

Hilary Rheaume is an attorney in the firm’s litigation, dispute resolution and auto and equipment dealers practice groups.

Rheaume represents automotive and equipment dealers throughout New England. She focuses specifically on franchise-related issues and dealer and manufacturer relations, including issues involving add points, terminations, transfers of ownership, and relocations. She also represents dealers in regulatory and compliance matters, licensing, advertising, consumer issues and commercial litigation. Rheaume also actively represents clients in real estate litigation.

She is admitted to practice in New Hampshire and Vermont. She holds a Juris Doctor from the University of New Hampshire School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from Ohio Wesleyan University.

James Monteleone

James Monteleone is an attorney in the firm’s litigation, dispute resolution and real estate practice groups.

Monteleone represents businesses and property owners in real estate disputes centering on title issues, easement rights, contested boundaries, defective mortgages, partitions, leases and purchase and sale contracts.

He has extensive knowledge and experience in Maine election law litigation, including ballot initiative qualification and campaign finance compliance. That niche experience has included successfully establishing ranked-choice voting in Maine and repeatedly defending its constitutionality under state and federal law.

Monteleone is admitted to practice in Maine. He holds a Juris Doctor from the University of New Mexico School of Law, a master’s from Northwestern University and a bachelor’s from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
