Sunday River to get $5.7M in upgrades

Sunday River's parent company Boyne Resorts has announced it will make $5.7 million in capital improvements at the ski resort in Newry.

According to a press release, the company plans to install 200 new snowmaking machines, add 300 seats to its hotel restaurant and begin construction on a road to the resort's newest real estate development, which includes five single-family home lots. Two of those lots, which went on the market last summer, are under contract and scheduled to begin construction this summer.

The investment plan also includes renovations to the resort's hotel and a new outdoor wedding ceremony site.

The company reports that Boyne Resorts, which also owns Sugarloaf, has invested more than $35 million in Sunday River since taking over in 2007.
