Allegiant to fly from Pease

The Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air announced plans to restart passenger service with flights between Florida and Portsmouth International Airport at Pease.

The Portsmouth Herald reported the airline will begin offering flights between Sanford, Fla., near Orlando, and Portsmouth starting Oct. 25. The low-cost airline currently offers flights out of Bangor to Tampa,  the Orlando area and Punta Gorda, Fla.

The airline previously operated out of Pease from 2005 to 2007. Airport officials told the paper they offered the airline a no-fee deal for restarting service at Pease, meaning the airline will pay no landing fees, fuel flowage fees or other standard fees, as a way to drive down operating costs.

The airline will offer round-trips to Florida for $99 as a promotion through Aug. 22 and thereafter start fares at $69 for one-way trips.
