Bangor Airport lays off 15 employees

The Bangor International Airport has laid off 15 employees and expects more cuts in the next two weeks.

The Bangor Daily News reported the layoffs are an effort for the airport to adjust its finances and, in part, a result of fewer military charter flights coming through Bangor. The paper reported the airport had a 75% drop in the number of military flights since 2010. Most of the employees laid off Thursday worked part time, according to airport Director Tony Caruso. He declined to say how many employees he expects will lose their jobs in the coming weeks.
