Beardsley to step down as Husson president

William Beardsley has announced he will step down as president of Husson University in Bangor at the end of this year to focus on economic development efforts in the state, according to the Bangor Daily News.

Beardsley, 66, has led the school for 22 years, during which time he brought the school out of debt, doubled the school's enrollment and expanded its programs to include health, education, science and pharmacy. Beardsley also brought the New England School of Communications, the Eastport Boat School and Unobskey College under Husson's management. Beardsley is chairman of the Maine Development Foundation and on the board of the Finance Authority of Maine.
