Canada launches branding campaign for its lobsters

The Maine Lobster Marketing Collaborative, created by the Legislature last year to lead a new $2 million marketing effort for Maine's lobster industry, faces competition from a similar marketing campaign being launched by its Canadian counterpart.

The Lobster Council of Canada has selected the Nova Scotia-based Revolve Branding Inc. to develop a brand identity for Canadian lobster that can be used in both domestic and international markets, according to a press release announcing the partnership.

The marketing partnership is in response to a 2012 recommendation by Canadian lobster representatives identifying a need to focus on a Canadian lobster brand.

“Canadian lobster is currently at a critical point in its continued growth and evolution,” Nelson Angel, president and senior brand strategist of Revolve Branding, said in the press release. “Strengthening the Canadian lobster brand in domestic and international markets will require a unique and compelling brand identity.”
