Deadline looms for SBA disaster relief loans

Businesses, agricultural cooperatives and private nonprofits in seven Maine counties must submit applications to be eligible for disaster relief loans by the end of the month.

The loans, provided by U.S. Small Business Administration’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan program, can be used as working capital for up to $2 million. The funds are meant for “farm-related and nonfarm-related entities that suffered financial losses” during excessive precipitation between May 8, 2013 and Sept. 25, 2013, according to a press release.

Applicants in Aroostook, Franklin, Kennebec, Penobscot, Piscataquis, Somerset and Waldo counties are eligible, and may go to https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela to apply.
