Global law firm opens Portland office

International law firm Littler has opened an office in Portland with five attorneys who previously worked for national law firm Fisher & Phillips LLP.

Littler, which calls itself the world's largest employment and labor law practice representing management, announced the opening of its One Monument Square office on Tuesday.

“We are excited to expand our footprint in New England, building off the success of our offices in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut,” Tom Bender and Jeremy Roth, co-managing directors of Littler, said in a prepared joint statement. “Following the recent addition of four prestigious shareholders in our Atlanta office, bringing on this talented team further supports our strategy of attracting lateral groups that strengthen our position as the dominant single source solution provider for the domestic and global employer community.”

Jonathan Shapiro, previously the regional managing partner for Fisher & Phillips' Portland office, Melinda J. Caterine and David Strock have all joined as shareholders. Shiloh D. Theberge and Peter F. Herzog have also joined as associates.

Shapiro, Caterine, and Strock were all named as 2014 New England Super Lawyers by Super Lawyers magazine, for their work in labor and employment law. In that same year, the magazine named Herzog and Theberge as 2014 New England Super Lawyers Rising Stars.

Littler, which says it has been "litigating, mediating and negotiating some of the most influential employment law cases and labor contracts on record for over 70 years," employs more than 1,000 attorneys across 60 offices worldwide.
