MTI doles out $1.2 million

The Maine Technology Institute is awarding $1.2 million in product development funds to five companies in Maine.

The MTI board of directors approved the awards, which the companies will match with over $1.5 million, according to a press release. The recipients are:

  • Fetch Enterprises in Portland, $469,880, to implement an online ordering, direct marketing and fulfillment system for veterinary prescriptions;
  • DM Technologies LLC in Sanford, $410,000, to develop tantalum conformal coated chip capacitors, primarily used for military and aerospace applications;
  • Global Protein Products Inc. in Waterville, $170,000, to develop corn-protein polymer technology to extend the shelf life of fresh produce;
  • Advance Electronic Concepts in Portland, $124,000, to develop an energy-efficient lighting system for supermarket refrigeration cases;
  • University of Maine in Orono, $84,808, to develop an oriented-strand lumber composites material.
