Camden National plans Augusta branch

Camden National Bank is expanding into central Maine with a new branch it plans to open in Augusta later this year.

The bank is expanding into the state’s capital because of its strong ties to area businesses and government agencies, said President and CEO Gregory Dufour, the Kennebec Journal reported. Camden National bought a building at 22 Western Ave. on Dec. 29 with plans to perform significant renovations. Once completed, it will be the bank’s 39th branch in Maine.

Camden National is the second-largest Maine-based bank with $2.31 billion in assets as of its Sept. 30, 2011, report.
