Chamber board upholds dismissal

The board of the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce is looking for a new president and CEO after directors upheld the dismissal of former President Candy Guerette yesterday.

The ruling of the full board upheld an earlier decision by its executive committee to terminate Guerette for alleged poor performance, according to the Bangor Daily News. It does not, however, scuttle a special meeting open to all members of the chamber set for later today to determine whether an advisory committee will be formed to investigate the matter further.

Guerette's attorney is challenging the severance package offered by the board. Jerry Whalen, vice president of business development for Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems, is chairing the search committee.
