Photo / Courtesy, Libby & Son Libby & Son U-Picks, in the western York County town of Limerick, has been a multi-generational family-owned and -operated farm since 1999, growing fruit there since the 1950s.

Three months after financial circumstances forced Libby & Son U-Pick in Limerick to close its fruit orchards for the season, the family-owned farm is making a comeback for apple season and beyond.

The business plans to open for the next two Saturdays offering a full orchard of apples to be picked and a few acres of late-season blueberries, and return to full capacity in 2026.

The owners announced via social media that they've been working behind the scenes to try and salvage" a few Saturdays of the 2025 season."

"We want to invite friends and families who have been coming to Libby’s for generations to enjoy this season," they said.

The pick-your-own orchard will be open on Saturday, Oct. 4, and Saturday, Oct. 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering a full orchards of apples ready to be picked and a few acres of late-season blueberries.

While Libby & Son is known for hosting live music and sales of cider, food and drinks on site, the orchard will only be selling fruit during the limited openings.

In 2023, USA Today named Libby & Son the country's No. 1 apple orchard.
