From the Editor: Five leaders you can count on

Mainebiz is happy to present this year’s class of Business Leaders of the Year.

This year’s crew comes from an array of industries — housing, social services, hospitality, food production and manufacturing/retail.

We think you’ll find the five Business Leaders of the Year demonstrate vision and a determination to get things done. They’re certainly torchbearers for Maine and Maine’s economy.

Profiles start on Page 10.

Back ‘On the Road’ again

We are not out of the woods with COVID, but mask mandates are being lifted. With that, Mainebiz has been back out on the road.

We held the first of this year’s four planned On the Road events, this one in Biddeford.

It was great to meet with people face to face and get a sense of what’s going on in the Saco-Biddeford area.

I particularly want to thank the participants in our roundtable discussion: James Herbert, president of University of New England; Chris Rhoades, whose firm recently acquired Pepperell Mill; Jeanne Hulit, CEO of Biddeford Savings Bank/Maine Community Bank; Amy Volk, former member of the state Legislature and a partner at Volk Packaging; Jim LaBelle, executive director of the Biddeford+Saco Chamber; and our own Jessica Hall and Peter Stanton.

We had a great conversation.
