Hannaford to spin off company
Hannaford Bros., in Scarborough, says it will spin off a wholly owned company to try and capitalize on the nutritional rating system it has developed.
The new company, which has not been named, will license the Guiding Stars nutritional rating system and related promotional material to other grocers, food-service companies, manufacturers and possibly government agencies, according to the Portland Press Herald.
Hannaford told the paper the new company would be created in the next few weeks.
