New hires

Cribstone Capital Management, an independent investment advisory firm in Brunswick, hired Timothy Woodhouse as director, private client services. Woodhouse was previously senior vice president, director of trust services at Camden National Wealth Management.

The Bicycle Coalition of Maine in Portland hired Frank Gallagher as communications director. Gallagher most recently was communications director at ecomaine.

Thompson-Hamel LLC, a financial services firm in Presque Isle, hired Natalie Nadeau as an associate at its Bangor location. Nadeau was assistant vice president of treasury management and government banking at Camden National Bank.

The MEMIC Group, a workers' compensation specialist in Portland, hired Matthew Coy as senior director, information technology. Coy was previously director of application development for Aetna.

Bath Savings Institution hired Evan Libby as vice president of compliance and Tatiana Chipilova as vice president, finance. Previously, Libby was a senior bank examiner for the state of Maine Bureau of Financial Institutions and Chipilova was with Camden National Bank as regulatory reporting officer and accounting manager.

The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor hired Mark Adams as director of microbial genomic services at the organization's Farmington, Conn. location. Adams was the scientific director and professor at the J. Craig Venter Institute.

CashStar, a provider of prepaid commerce solutions in Portland, hired Nate Smith as vice president of marketing. Smith was previously vice president of product management at Achievers with Blackhawk Network.

Make-A-Wish Maine in Portland hired Alex Gaeth as executive director. Gaeth was previously CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine.

Nadeau Chiropractic and Wellness in Augusta hired Tyler Barnes and Ashley Rice as associates. Barnes specializes in the treatment and management of sports-related musculoskeletal injuries while Rice specializes in applied kinesiology.

CES Inc., a firm of engineers, environmental scientists and land surveyors in Brewer, hired Jeanna DeTour as senior engineering technician.

Bergen & Parkinson, a law firm in Kennebunk, hired Jason Howe as an attorney focusing on corporate law, real estate and business acquisitions.

Macpage LLC, a CPA firm in South Portland, hired Kimberly Mills as manager. Mills was previously a CPA with Joseph A. Keaney CPA in Portland.

Penobscot Community Health Care in Bangor hired Lucy Shortsleeves as a certified physician assistant at Penobscot Pediatrics in Bangor and Denise Bouchard as a certified family nurse practitioner at Seaport Community Health Center in Belfast. Shortsleeves previously practiced at Health South Pediatric Practices while Bouchard was at Inland Family Care.

U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree hired Victoria Bonney as communications director. Bonney most recently served as communications manager for Planned Parenthood's New Hampshire Action Fund.

Bar Harbor Savings and Loan hired Dawn Nason as accounting associate and Carolyn Lynch as internal auditor.

New Dimensions Federal Credit Union in Waterville hired Brianne McNally as branch manager in Augusta.

Sevee & Maher Engineers in Cumberland hired Jeff Read as a senior project manager/civil engineer, Lydia Howes as a marketing specialist and Rhonda Forrester as an environmental engineer.

Landry/French Construction Co. in Scarborough hired Kathy Leathers as senior project manager, Keith Pelletier as project superintendent, Nick Gaddar as assistant project manager and Taylor Hudson as an accounting assistant.

Maine Medical Partners, a department of Maine Medical Center in Portland, recently announced new hires in several departments including: Adam Owen, Michael Binette and Michael Totta, neurosurgery and spine; Abby Fleisch, pediatric specialty care, endocrinology and diabetes; Rebecca Hutchinson and Fernando Moreno, palliative medicine group; Gary Hochheiser, as Maine Medical Center's director of thoracic surgery; Timothy Fitzgerald, surgical care; Sarah Dodwell, Jason Helis and Mark Gorman, neurology; Jesse Sammon, urology in South Portland; Caroline Foust-Wright, women's health; Kartik Pandya, pediatric surgery; Amanda Powell, Lakes Region primary care; and Annabelle Rae Chua Norwood, geriatric medicine.

Baker Newman Noyes, an accounting and consulting firm in Portland, hired Peter Fortunato as manager of the firm's Risk and Business Advisory practice. Fortunato was previously as vice president of technology and information security at EnablesIT.

The Grand, a nonprofit performing arts center in Ellsworth, hired Nick Turner as executive director. Turner was most recently co-founder and executive director at la-de-da, a performing arts school in Fort Collins, Colo.

Promotions

FairPoint Communications promoted Earl Baumgardner to senior account executive in in southern Maine. Baumgardner was previously branch manager for business markets in New Hampshire.

KeyBank in Portland promoted Brigitte Ritchie to corporate responsibility officer for its New England Region. Ritchie previously handled public affairs and community relations for the bank's Vermont market.

Bernstein Shur, a law firm in Portland, elected Joel Moser as a shareholder. Moser is a member of the firm's Energy Practice Group and the Municipal and Governmental Services Practice Group.

Katahdin Trust promoted Yancy LaPointe to branch manager and retail services officer in Fort Fairfield. LaPointe was previously retail services assistant supervisor.

Career Management Associates, a human resource service provider in Portland, promoted Audra Becker to president. Becker most recently served as vice president of HR services.

Baker Newman Noyes, a CPA and consulting firm in Portland, named Tabitha Lamontagne tax principal and Matthew Prunier audit principal. Lamontagne specializes in serving financial institutions as well as corporate taxation of large and closely-held businesses while Prunier focuses on delivering audit services to financial institutions, commercial clients and employee benefit plans.

EMHS in Brewer named Colleen Hilton president of Rosscare, the organization's not-for-profit company that oversees the Rosscare Nursing Homes. Hilton is currently an EMHS senior vice president and president of the system's VNA Home Health Hospice.

Atlantic Federal Credit Union promoted Stacey Chenevert to vice president of retail services and Dawn Houle to branch manager in Brunswick. Chenevert was previously senior branch manager in Brunswick in additional to overseeing all branches while Houle was assistant branch manager in Brunswick.

Gibson LeClair LLC, a CPA firm in Augusta, promoted Scott Nivus to partner.

Kennebec Savings Bank in Augusta promoted Jennifer Bechard to human resources officer. Bechard was previously payroll and human resources information system manager.

Appointments

Make-A-Wish Maine in Portland added Jimbo Marston, Dan Tilton, Kim Anania, Cynthia O'Rourke, Bill Becker, Mark Woronoff, Susan DesGrosseilliers and Brett Foster to its board of director. Marston is owner of Uncle Andy's Digest, Tilton is senior vice president of sales and customer relations at Skowhegan Savings Bank, Anania is owner of KMA Human Resource Consulting, O'Rourke is senior vice president at Spinnaker Trust, Becker is vice president at Key Private Bank, Woronoff is an attorney at Hopkinson & Abbondanza, DesGrosseilliers is a designer and proprietor at Fixtures Maine and Foster is vice president of commercial payments business development at Capital One.

Berman & Simmons, a law firm in Lewiston, said that Benjamin Gideon was appointed to the Professional Ethics Commission of the Maine Board of Overseers of the Bar for a four-year term. Gideon represents plaintiffs in medical malpractice, personal injury, wrongful death and other complex civil litigation matters.

MaineGeneral Health in Augusta elected James Clair, Nathan Cotnoir, Peter Mills, Alane O'Connor and Scott Small to its board of directors. Clair has a more than 30-year history managing and owning companies in Maine in the areas of health care, technology, real estate and retail food; Cotnoir is vice president and commercial banking officer at Camden National Bank; Mills is the executive director of the Maine Turnpike Authority; O'Connor is a faculty member of Maine-Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency and currently serves on the medical staff of MaineGeneral Medical Center; and Small is a principal at Macpage LLC.

The board of directors of Camden National Corp. named Lawrence Sterrs vice chair of its board. Sterrs serves as a member of both the compensation and technology committees and recently became a member and vice chair of the board of directors for Camden National Bank, the company's wholly-owned subsidiary.

Pine Tree Society, an organization in Bath serving children and adults with disabilities, named Jean Youde and Lorraine Twombly to its board of directors. Youde is a program coordinator at the Edmund Ervin Pediatric Center at Maine General Medical Center while Twombly is co-owner of Priority Learning in South Portland.

Coastal Mountains Land Trust in Camden added Malcolm White and Valerie Foster to its board of directors. White is a retired business executive while Foster is a realtor with Sotheby's International Realty.

The Maine State Bar Association announced that Albert Ayre assumed the office of president for 2017. Ayre, of counsel with Ainsworth Thelin & Raftice in South Portland, has served on the association's board of governors since 2009 and has held positions on the board's membership, investment and finance committees.

The National Institute for Civil Discourse selected Terry Hayes as one of three chairs for its National Network of State Legislators committed to Civil Governance. The Network consists of 100 legislators from more than 20 states who participated in the workshop “Building Trust through Civil Discourse.” Hayes, previously a member of the Maine Legislature, is currently serves as Maine treasurer.

President Barack Obama appointed U.S. Sen. Angus King to serve on the Roosevelt Campobello International Park Commission. The commission is tasked with administering the park as a memorial and preserving it as closely to its condition when occupied by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

The Telergee Alliance, a national network of accounting firms serving the telecommunications industry, elected Julie Keim as chair/president of its board for a two-year term. Keim is principal at BerryDunn, a CPA and consulting firm in Portland.

Riding To The Top Therapeutic Riding Center in Windham elected Bo Bigelow of Murray Plumb & Murray, Mary Lynn Engel of Saint Joseph's College and Allan Shepard of IBEW 567 to its board of directors. The organization also announced its 2017 officers including Steve Flynn, president; Kate Jeton, vice president; Janis Childs, secretary; and David Shorette, treasurer.

Friends of Casco Bay elected Malcolm Poole to its board of directors. Poole president of Poole Group of Cos., a holding company focusing on commercial real estate, marine construction and stormwater environmental controls.

Achievements

The Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce, Presque Isle Elks Lodge, Presque Isle Kiwanis Club and Presque Isle Rotary Club recently announced its annual awards. Winners included Richard Hallett, retired, Lifetime Achievement Award; Deborah Gray, owner, Life By Design, Citizen of the Year; Governor's Restaurant & Bakery, Business of the Year; Jim McKenney, past president of the chamber, President's Award.

Drummond Woodsum, a law firm in Portland, announced that seven of its attorneys were selected as Lawyer of the Year for inclusion in the 2017 edition of The Best Lawyers in America.

AVANGRID utilities in Maine and New York were named “Utility Customer Champions” by Market Strategies International in the 2016 Utility Trusted Brand & Customer Engagement study of residential customers by Cogent Reports. Central Maine Power, one of the utilities' Maine companies, placed first among electric utilities in the East and in the top quartile of electric utilities overall in the 2016 study.

Austin Associates PA, a CPA firm in Auburn, said Autumn Dow earned her CPA license from the Maine Board of Accountancy. Dow specializes in corporate tax returns for small business owners and nonprofits.

U.S. Sen. Angus King was presented with the Navy's highest civilian honor, the Distinguished Public Service Award, in recognition of his commitment to the Navy, Marine Corps and Department of the Navy as a whole.

The Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport was named to The Knot's Best of Weddings for a fifth time. The award represents the highest-rated wedding professionals across America, as reviewed by real couples, their families and wedding guests. The resort also won the WeddingWire Couples' Choice Award for 2017.
