LePage seeks input on job creation

Gov. Paul LePage yesterday announced he will host a series of job creation workshops this month and next to collect ideas from the business community on how to stimulate the economy.

The sessions will allow business leaders to share ideas on efforts to create jobs with LePage and other state officials, according to a press release. LePage, department commissioners and other staffers from various state agencies will host the first workshop at Southern Maine Community College in South Portland Oct. 19, with following workshops at Husson University in Bangor on Oct. 26 and at Central Maine Community College in Auburn Nov. 17.

"Our staff will be working with job creators on a number of issues that will enable them to create opportunities for Mainers," LePage said in the release. Topics of discussion will include business and income taxes, work force availability, energy costs and regulations.
