The new management group for the Lewiston Colisée, a 67,000-square-foot sports, entertainment and trade show arena at 190 Birch St., said it will revitalize and “elevate” the facility.
Mill Town Sports and Entertainment, which is based in Amesbury, Mass., said it views the facility as an economic catalyst for the community.
“From working with current partners to welcoming new groups, we’re here to bring energy and passion for top-tier sports events and entertainment back to the Colisée, said Nate Bostic, Mill Town’s president and founder and CEO of Boston Hockey Academy.
Bostic said the firm plans to be an “active presence” in Lewiston and surrounding areas.
"We’re dedicated to honoring the tradition of the Colisée and preserving what makes it so special to so many,” Bostic said.
The Colisée had been on the market since last year, listed by SVN the Masiello Group for $6.2 million.
Now the facility “is under a short-term leasehold agreement with Mill Town Sports and Entertainment LLC with the intent to finalize a purchase of the property,” Marc Brunelle, a senior commercial real estate advisor with SVN Masiello, told Mainebiz.
He continued, "This new tenant is a very good fit and is currently planning on holding hockey and entertainment events.”
Mill Town signed a purchase and sale agreement to acquire the Colisée and in the interim signed a lease to operate and manage the arena, said Joe Curtatone, a spokesperson for Mill Town.
The company is incorporated in Massachusetts, registered as a business in Maine and will be operating out of the Colisee. Bostic has developed a professional and personal relationship with Colisée staff and community members over the past few years, Curtatone added.
Formerly called the Androscoggin Bank Colisée and the Central Maine Youth Center, the Colisée dates to 1958. It seats 2,634 people for hockey and has a capacity of 4,500 for concerts. It was the venue for the heavyweight boxing championship rematch between Sonny Liston and Muhammad Ali in 1965.
The facility has seen over $4 million in renovations since 2005, including new administrative offices, food court and taverns. It’s positioned as the main venue for entertainment and recreation in Androscoggin County and beyond.
Mill Town Sports and Entertainment said its “vision for the Colisée entails a dynamic range of programming including concerts, boxing events, community entertainment, high-end junior hockey and a comprehensive learn-to-play program to foster youth participation in hockey.”
Bostic said he will “prioritize fostering a welcoming atmosphere by creating a clean, organized and inviting environment, ensuring comfort and inclusivity for all attendees.”
In 2024, Bostic joined the hockey staff of the Maine Nordiques, a team in the North American Hockey League and long-time tenant at the Colisée, as director of scouting, according to the Nordiques website.
