Lewiston insurer partners with pharmacy

Lewiston-based Maine Community Health Options has partnered with a locally owned community pharmacy group to eliminate the cost of generic medications for members.

Penobscot Bay Press reported that MCHO's partnership with Community Pharmacies will allow insurance member to fill generic medications for free at any of the pharmacy group's 10 locations in Maine. The pharmacy group's locations are Blue Hill, Bucksport, Corinth, Cornish, Dexter, Gorham, Newport, Saco, Randolph and Waldoboro.

Kevin Lewis, MCHO's CEO, said in a prepared statement that the nonprofit insurer is "pleased to combine our innovative, value based insurance design and this strengthened relationship with Community Pharmacies to help eliminate financial barriers to improving the health and wellbeing of our Members."
