Maine Med CEO resigns

Vincent Conti, Maine Medical Center's CEO and president, will step down June 15.

Maine Med's board of trustees made the announcement yesterday in a statement. Martha Davoli, Maine Med's director of public information, told Mainebiz this morning that no more details are being released concerning the reason for Conti's departure. Richard Petersen, Maine Med's COO, will step in as president and CEO for an interim period.

Conti has led the medical center since 1997, and overseen years of growth, including a $170 million investment in hospital improvements like a helipad and a new emergency room, and a recently announced partnership with Tufts University's medical school. Last year, the hospital made the U.S. News & World Report ranking of the nation's top 50 hospitals for the first time, ranking 50th for heart care and 45th for orthopedics.
